I think everyone should read this! | ADHD Information

Un old post, but i give it a shoot anyway. My new doctor wanted me to try a new medicin. It is called Nootropil. He was a immigrant from some east block country, or russia, forgot to ask him where he came from, but he said children in his old cuontry was subscribed this instead of concerta. And had had this medicin for years...He couldnt understand why they didnt use it more frekvently in sweden.

Now, im not a child, im 29 years old and have had concerta/ritalin for 3 years, but after some reading about the medicin it seem almoust to good to be true. If this doctor say it has been used for over ten years and works good, so why dont ppl in sweden (where I live) get it. Instead ppl with ADD/ADHD gets Concerta as a first choice...then, after you try it for a while, the doctors are willing to discuss other options as dextroamfetamin and noradrenalin stimulant  medicin. but I never even heard of this one....

WHY?

sheeba39577.2077314815I was on Modafinil 300mg a day the odd day it might work a bit but in general it didn't work I was still tired. I was on it for about 2 months. I am now on Wellbutrin since last friday and it seems to work not by the evening tho but I am only  on 150mg once  a day will be going on 150mg twice a day soon.

I hadn't at all till  I read your post  but the post on "need help sleeping"  references provigil  for sleep and  the article  you posted references it for  alertness.  I looked around and found a university site  with some real straightforward  easy to  understand information

One thing  ADHD  is good for is the intuition to run good google searches lol

I did a google search using "smart drugs" and another seperate search using "cognative enhancers". One of the returned links sparked my interest a great deal. http://nootropics.com/ which is about a book called SMART DRUGS 2 THE NEXT GENERATION. There is a lot of information presented but what i found most interesting was this.

One possible solution to this dilemma involves taking a
cholinergic agent such as piracetam (Nootropil) or aniracetam
(Draganon, Ampamet) that also enhances dopamine function.

Yet some smart drugs, such as piracetam,
really do seem to be at worst pretty innocuous.
Agents such as the alpha-1 adrenergic agonist adrafinil
(Olmifron) typically do have both mood-brightening and
intellectually invigorating effects. Adrafinil, like its
chemical cousin modafinil (Provigil), promotes alertness,
vigilance and mental focus; and its more-or-less pure CNS
action ensures it doesn't cause unwanted peripheral sympathetic
stimulation.

My question is this. Has anyone looked into alternative medications such as the ones presented in that link? Such as piracetam (Nootropil)
aniracetam(Draganon, Ampamet)
adrafinil(Olmifron) or modafinil (Provigil).
