Search for correct medication | ADHD Information

Hey gang, I have been diagnosed with adhd for about two months and have been trying different medications, but have had problems.  Adderall XR worked the best, but the teeth grinding was unbearable.  Has anyone else had that problem, and how did they correct it?  I have tried concerta, but it did not help much, but it may be becouse of the dosage being to low (27mg).  Let me know what anyone thinks.  I feel like I am out of options unless I go back to the Adderall and just deal with the teeth grinding.

Thanks

I always did grind my teeth when I am asleep.  I was just diagnosed last month and put on Ritalin( I am 38).   I wonder if I still do it.  It is hard to tell.  I will ask my husband.  I wear a bite splint to keep me from grinding.  I am on Ritalin but want to take Adderal XR because when Ritalin wears off it wears off so fast that I am a basket case and very moody.  I have heard that Adderal is better.  Did you try Ritalin first?

Hey,

My Dr. put me on adderall first, and I have not tried ritalin.  The teeth grinding starts the second day, and if I stop taking the medication, it ends the first day.  It is almost worth the pain however.

In the book "Driven to Distraction" I noticed that some people get jittery from AdHD meds and some docs put them on Beta Blockers to counteract it. I take Beta Blockers anyway for a heart condition but I still grind my teeth so I guess it it may work for some and not for others.  If you have not read that book you should read it. It is very helpful for newly diagnosed people and it is an easy read.  It makes it so easy to understand.

Thanks,

I will see if I can find a copy.  The Adderall worked so much better for me than anything I have tried since then.  I am to the point of giving up on this.  I have gone from no productivity, to extreme productivity, back to little productivity.  I have noticed the erratic spending behaviors of the past few years, and actually had a month with a balanced budget, and really want to get back to that point.

Dont give up.  I am just starting too and have felt the same way.  I think I will ask doc if I can try adderal too.  Dont give up. Is the teeth grinding at night or are you having mood swings?Dixiepeep38064.6286342593The teeth grinding is all day, and uncontrollable.  It's like I can't stop, and after about an hour of it, the headaches hit as a result of the grinding.  It usually subsides at night.  Don't know about the mood swings.Maybe you are taking too much?  I do not know the difference in Adderal XR or XL or plain adderal.  I wish I could be more help.

Could be.  I have an appointment next week, so we will see.

Have a great day.  It's Friday, and we bike ride all day tomorrow.
