starting Tenex | ADHD Information

Hello -

My son is 7 years old and just started Tenex about a month or so ago. He is currently taking Straterra mg and .05 of the Tenex. Our doctor said we could add the other .05 of Tenex in the afternoon if needed but so far we have not done that.

The Tenex has help my son come to a calming level that allows us to enjoy him. Before he had so much energy - he just bounced all over. Since starting the Tenex we have seen big improvments on this. He is so more enjoyable and we can actually carry on a conversation with him without all of the distractions.

But so far this combination of the Straterra and Tenex is working well for my son but again we have just started it a little over a month ago. I am keeping my fingers crossed

His teacher in school also has been satisfied with the results so far. The only thing we have problems with is keeping his attention to his school work - he likes to go from one thing to the next and finsh first - not always paying attention to the work. But we are working with this...

ChristieMy son is on Concerta, like Ritalin LA, and his doc was going to add tenex because of some issues at school. She said it just calms the kids down, should work well for calming him down for sleep time. We ended up not starting it because he straightened himself out at school and all is well now. My son has been on Ritalin LA 20 mg for 3 weeks now and while we are getting positive feedback from school, the side effects are awful for him.  The insomnia makes him cry!!  The doctor suggested adding Tenex .5 mg and then increasing to 1 mg at bedtime.  Does anyone have any comments on the Tenex and should it be used with Ritalin?  This is all very new new to us and I'd appreciate any help.  Thanks!!
