Hey ya'll I just wanted a personal opinion from ya. Here is my short little story.
I have been on metadate cd for a while now. I am going to school to be a nurse..Well the first semester was cool. I was able to make my meds in the morning and study on the weekends, because later after I would get out of school they would be worn off. Well this semester is a little different..I only go to school for a couple hour. I go from like 8-12. It takes an hour to get to school and an hour to get back..eat, etc. by then I really don't have that much concentration left because I have to study way more then I did last semester. Anyways here is my question. I was wondering if it would hurt me to take my medication after I get home? Do ya'll think that it would make it not work the right way ( I should know since I am going to be a nurse-right?) If I do not take the medication in the morning during school its not that big of deal...I can sit still, usually and I did not really need to concentrate, because all the teachers do is read off of a power point and I end up having to come home and read it all over again anyways, because it is really hard to grasp the information the first time even while on meds. So my question to anyone...Does anyone take meds later in the day even after they have been up for awhile and Does anyone think it is ok to take a med early in the morning one day and later in the afternoon the next? Sorry its so long, but I had to tell ya'll the story so you can understand. THANKS FOR ANY OPINION!!!!!
It probably depends on the med.
I take Ritalin (10 mgs 3 time a day). I usually take it when I wake up, before lunch and before supper. However, I vary the times I take it (or if I take it at all) depending on what I'm doing.
I've experimented with my reaction to my pill, and I know that it takes 20 minutes to work and lasts for 4 hours (almost to the minute.) If I know what I'm going to be doing, I can judge if I need more concentration (and so space my pills closer together than usual) or more imagination (and not take them at all.)
This experimentation is not something I did on my own, but worked with my doctor to discover. I also tried a Ritalin on slow release but didn't like it because I could not control my abililty to pay attention as well.
Hope that helps.
