Concerta ? | ADHD Information

Hello all! I'm new to the site and hope someone can shed some light on our situation. My 11 yr old son was changed from Adderall XR to Concerta 54mg. In the first month there was a considerable change in a postive way. He felt in control and not easily distracted. Unfortunately, it seems that he metabolizes his medication way too fast.

We are now facing another medication change. He is so frustrated and is trying so hard. In addition, it's benchmark testing time. I've been consulting with his Peditrician and he was thinking of placing him on not only the 54mg but also the 36mg for a trial period of four days.

I'm a Nurse and I'm a little nervous with this high dose. Does anyone have any experience with this problem?

Try out the higher dose. Concerta is probably the most comfortable around. I have been switched and switched. I only wish that Concerta came earlier!!! Im 14 and went through primary on ritalin...i wish that had never happened

Meg,

Thanks for your response. My son is on the 54mg of Concerta and we would then add the 30mg does for a total of 74mg taken every AM.

He suffers some mild side effects - headache, stomach pain but it's tolerable. I'm afraid this high of a dose may be too much for him to handle. He weighs 65 lbs and is about 4'11".

He's extremely thin but eats like a horse. He's also very active in an indoor climbing team.

Your input is greatly appreciated!

My phsyc is checking up on the headache's. I am experiencing them too, i will give feedback once i receive feedback!!!
