Less Inhibited with Celexa? | ADHD Information

You could look into a low dose of desimipramine.  It would be my second line of therapy for children if stimulants failed.

Thanks.  My daughter has tried Aderall XR with meidocre results - the same with Strattera which we're currently weaning her from after a conversation with her doctor.  We have an appointment next week and I have no idea what the doctor will want to try next.

Most of my daughter's problems are with hyperactivity and lack of self control.  Both meds have helped her focus better, but neither med has helped with hyperactivity and self control issues.  The celexa was first perscribed with she was over emotional with the Aderall XR.  It does seem to keep her mood on a more even level.

I sure hope the next med (whatever it might be) can help.  We're mentally exhausted with this process.

My daughter takes a tiny dose of Celexa (5 mg?) every day with 18 mg. of Strattera.  When she was on Adderall XR, the doctor added the Celexa because she was tearful and to help her afternoon letdown be a little easier.  It worked conerning that, but Adderall XR wasn't doing the job so we are in our 5th week of Strattera and didn't stop the Celexa.

My child's ability to focus has improved greatly, she is sleeping better and eating better as well (go figure).  But over the past two weeks all of her behavioral problems have become worse.  We've caught in MANY lies  something she's never done before. We can't give her the benefit of the doubt with anything. She is deceitful, augmentative, more impatient, etc.

Anyway..............a friend who is well educated in anti-depressants and ADHD meds said the Celexa may be interfering with the Strattera because Celexa can make people less inhibited.  Since many ADHD kids don't have strong inhibitions anyway, when the inhibitions are weakened, this type of behavior shows up. He also said it may be time to move up to a higher dose of Strattera.

Any thoughts out there?  Our doctor is out of town and our next appointment isn't until late Feb.  Hopefully, we can speak with the doctor before then though.
