I've been on Strattera for almost 2 weeks. I am experiencing nausea, dizziness, fatigue.
At what point to I give up and ask the Dr. for something else?
I had the same side-effects. I felt like I had been poisoned. The body and mind know intuitively when something is not good for them. I suggest that you ask your Dr. about Wellbutrin, which has been shown in clincal trials to as effective as Strattera w/out the bad side-effects.I would do some research about strattera..it just came out that it causes liver damageI just read the report on Stratterra causing liver problems...Please people...before you throw something like that out there...do the research yourself. There have been two cases reported...which is why the report had to be filed. Stratterra has been on the market since 2002 and no links have been made as of yet. In those two cases both were taking the drug...and both have been treated and are fine. There are a number of syptoms to look for...but non are showing up in the studies of those who are using Stratterra. Because this drug is new...everyone who is on it is being watched carefully...for things just like this. But my son has been on it for 2 years and has had no side affects other than the loss of appetite the first week and a half he was on it. Your doctor may want to turn down your dose...or try something else.Hi,My name is RAIN..not "people"
Why should I have to do the research? I was giving a heads up..its up to them to look into it,like I posted. My dr. told me that it causes liver problems..that is enough for me. If someone wants to keep their kid on this drug, with this possibilty hanging over their head..then go for it.
I was speaking in general "people" as in people reading the message. I was not speaking directly to you.TerriB--
Yes, the side effects will ease up in a few weeks. When i first started taking strattera I was constantly sleepy, depressed, and nauseus. You just have to take it one day at a time. The side effects have completely gone away after about 3-4 weeks, and the positive effects of the strattera started to shine through after about 6 weeks. I now have been on it for 6 months.
Thanks! That was what I was hoping to hear. He started me on 40 mg. and said we would go from there so I'm really hoping this works for me.my son is on strattera 25 mg. he is 12 and in 7th grade weights 75 lbs. He takes it every morning at 6:30 with a glass of milk and breakfast. He started strattera two days after the report came out. I my self did research, called my Doctor and the company Libby that makes the drug. I had a liver test done on my son and will have one done in six months again to check it. I didnt even ask what it costs to do the test, but you know what? I know it will be worth it! It is my job to do the research and to see what is best for my son. He loves how this has helped him to focus in school with his grades, homework and sports. You might want to rethink you decision.
