Is behavioral school the answer??

My 6 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD 2 years ago.  He has been in a regular preschool at 3 but they couldn't handle him.  He then went to a Early Childhood Special Ed classroom, they felt they weren't the right place for him.  He started at a behavioral school at the beginning of this school year.  He is the youngest in the class.  The other youngest child is 3 years older than him.  Since he started he has been picking up on new behaviors that are more severe due to him(in my opioion) seeing older kids act badly so he just assumes that is appropriate.  His latest behavior is lying and not taking responsibilty for what he does and this has caused some serious problems.  He is a very bright smart loving child and picks up on things really easily.  Do you think I should push for a regular classroom with kids his own age?

Once again - you need to go with your gut instinct as his mom.  I think mainstream school is good for kids.  But if this behavioural school has a good reputation that go for it.

But as you stated, he may learn worse behaviours.

What do they say about petty criminals - send them to jail and they come out a professional!

But definately talk to the behavioural school and see what types of success rates they have, this may ease your concerns.

I would gladly attend a behavior school if it would help me understand my sons condition better.
