Josh, while you may not be the poster boy for ADHD you could be inattentive without being hyperactive. I have always been this way and have had to create ways of reminding myself about things, such as keeping a planner and following it daily; taking a lot of notes during class to keep my mind focused on the work; setting goals and breaking them down into tasks/steps and ticking them off as each step is achieved. I lose focus easily without these coping mechanisms. You could possibly do this too, either by yourself or with the help of your teacher or a professional. Also some specific vitamin and mineral supplements may be helpful to you if there is a chemical imbalance. Personally I would try this route before taking prescription drugs.
Keep researching. That is a good first step!
Josh: how about a tape recorder so you can relisten to lessons for homework.
I want this for my son when he is older. Some add people I think could be helped with listening therapy. We all could really.Perhaps the way your teacher teaches also isn't your best learning style either.I think is the biggest problem in schools.
I am teaching my 8 year old read things twice before answering questions. Each time you reread you will remember more. His teacher this year has tought them cross out wrong answers and then fill in correct answer on multiple choice answers. RSHN Ps: eat healthy, no junk food should help also.
