Strattera Question | ADHD Information

My daughter has been on strattera for a little over a month now. Initially, we were giving her dose before school. She was falling asleep in class!! So, we moved her dosing time to dinner time. Now she falls asleep easier at bedtime, and awakes MUCH more cheerful. But, even though this med. is supposed to be 24 hr. I see signs of it wearing off earlier. Her teacher has said that she is not as attuned now & needs help more often. You can also split the dosing with Strattera, 1/2 the dose in the AM & 1/2 in the eve. We're gonna try that next, as she NEEDS to be at her best during school, but she also needs her rest at night.   Good luck!!

My 8 year old daughter is taking Ritalin LA 40mg before school and regular Ritalin 10mg for the evenings.  When meds are active things are great.  BUT....when meds have worn off, Kimberly is rude, loud, mouthy, and difficult to get along with.

Today, a friend told me that Strattera can be given before bed and it will last for 24 hours (after the initial the first 2 to 4 weeks).  Does this drug really help avoid the peaks and valleys that we currently experience?  Will it last through School?  What if it's given in the morning, does it last until the next morning?

Getting ready for school is the WORST.  And it seems that the less time we have the worse it gets.    I would love to find something that could help Kimberly be "sweet" all of the time, instead of trying to work around those off times.

Any help?

Hello,

I'd like to know if there are any adverse side affects of Stattera? My daughter is changing to Strattera from Adderall b/c of the terrible side affects & its also slowing her growth down quite a bit over the last 9 months that she's taken Adderall. Let me know..Thanks.
