medacine vs no medacines | ADHD Information

Not giving a ADHD person their med is like not giving a Diabetic no Insulin. You need to give 4-6 weeks to really tell if that med is working. To me it seems here everyone wants a quick fix. Won't happen!Medacine only helps with attention only issues. Therapies needed for other issues. Don't for get Auditory/ Visual processing problems coexist also here. Ask for a Sensory profile screener from school. A Ot can address these issues also.. RSHN look up OT and ADHD.

I have taken adderal for two plus years and have been so happy that it has finally helped me to get things done.  But as time wore on, I felt like it wasn't as affective.  I tried some herbal treatments and felt like it helped me so much better! And the side affects are gone that I experienced with the Adderal.   I love the herbal help so much!   I just went to my local health store, GNC and bought a product called Focus Formula.  It has ginko in it and other natural vitamins and supplements.  I was able to stay focused for a longer period of time.  It didn't seem to wear off.  It doesn't affect my sleep, so I can take it later in the day if I forget.  I also like the fact that my mouth is not so dry anymore.  I really feel like it helps me in a different way, but a better way for me.

That only applies to Straterra which is a blood level medication as it takes 4 to six weeks to see the full benefit. Effects of stimulant medication are seen not too long after administering when the right med and the right theraputic dose is acheived. ADHD medications manage the symptoms of impulsivity and focusing issues. Auditory and visual problems do not always coexist with ADHD. The decison to medicate is made because its a quality of life issue. Not medicating for ADHD will not kill a person but it sure will kill any chance for quality of life for many. Every parent knows their own child and what is best for them. A diagnosis of ADHD has many variables so its not one size fits all and in all my years of dealing with ADHD issues, Ive never known a parent that hasnt tried everything else before making a decision to medicate because anything else tried failed to manage the symptoms of ADHD. Its important to have medical conditions ruled out like allergies because many symptoms of allergies mimic ADHD behaviors or sometimes the child has both. Its all very indvidual.

This is RSHN: I am going to ask for a full psychological evalation of my son. I think ADHD isn't the hole problem with him. Told can been done by psychologist who diagnosed adhd. All paid for. I wonder if ADHD could be a seizure disorder in disguise.I notice times spacing out which is why we are using depakote. The psychologist said not part of this disorder. Any other of these kids do this also?

We have tried healthyeating with no meds still needed more which is why on meds.Melt downs to me are a sign of stress. Why is it school people don't get that.

My sons development has always been behind peers. I don't think part of adhd.Is it?
