I'm a 32-year old male and the best way I can descibe myself is ditto - ditto to having many great ideas and no ability to focus on any of them; ditto to snapping on people and quickly getting over it; ditto to daydreaming of all the great things I'm going to do someday; ditto to fidgetting constantly; ditto to looking at people talking and thinking I should really be listening to what they are saying.
I used to have a job that required major multitasking and constantly jumping from issue to issue - I've was very successful there and was promoted quickly - but a few years back I changed to position requiring much more focus, and have been bored and moderately successful since. That's when I realized I had issues and needed to seek help. I could keep going but I won't - I'll just go back to ditto :)
I'm current going through the paces trying to find out if I truly have adhd or not. Luckily I've hooked up with a great doctor (who has adhd also) and have an appt with a neurologist tomorrow for 'testing'.
Anyway, the doc says that to be true adhd I would have had problems prior to age 7. Heck, I've trouble remembering what I did last week, much less age 7. I'm hoping someone out there with young kids can give me a good idea of what they typically see in their adhd child. For instance - my mom tells me stories of a constantly bad temper, school was always boring to me. I did great on tests but never seemed to complete homework. Frequent fights in grade school.
It's truly nice see others that have the same issues (not nice that you have them, just nice to know I'm not alone). Some of the stories truly brought a tear to my eye.
I was diagnosed with ADHD in 4th grade I think I was umm...9 years old (I'm 19 now). I was a constant trouble maker, spent more time in the principals office than in class, couldn't stay focused on one thing or calm for more than 30 seconds at a time... did get into a lot of fights as well. These symptoms have decreased dramatically over the years, however they're all still there to some degree.
