Just wondering if anyone is taking focalin for ADHD?

I was on addreall XR for a month and did nothing for me as to focusing, concentrating, comprehending in college so now she strated me on focalin with 10/10/20 and then today she told me to take 20/10/10 as you can have up to 60mg per day.. nothing at all..so will see what the weekend brings otherwise she said if this dont work will try something else here till we find the right one..

Just wondering if anyone has been on this and how it worked for them.  Im 44.

Wondering if you have connected with anyone on Focalin.  I have tried Concerta, Adderall and Provigil.. all have mild to strong benefits, but all have come with very negative side effects - of al types.  :(

My doc is suggesting either Focalin or Strattera, but I understand that Strattera can take from 1-3 weeks to have a therapeutic effect (and getting to the right dosage).

BTW, I am 55 and was diagnosed with depression and ADD (the ADD diagnosis came only late last fall).

Hi,

I have tried Foclain and just didnt do anything for me but make me really sick everytime I took it got to where I about passed out so quit for a few days went back and tried it again and same thing so flushed that down the toliet...

Strattera I was trying for 8 weeks and just nothing...for me... and was at the highest I could go for my weight I think around 120mg a day..

Still have found nothing for ADHD just need meds to help me with focusing in large groups, church, college, and for reading comprehension..

Good Luck meds  work soo different on everyone and for me well I have tried 8 different ones now and nothing for me.. so will see what the other doc says to me as my doc is sending me onto anohter one and see what he says..

Tomorrow, I start the Focalin with the idea that Strattera is the next step if it doesn't work.   It is an eye-opener to see that there are so many people who have tried so many meds ... and without any or only limited success.  In this forum, I read a post from someone who had tried 20 different meds or combinations.  So, on one hand I am encouraged to learn that it is not only me having disappointing results and it does give me some hope that the right combination of meds is there for me.  On the other hand, having recently (8 months ago) been diagnosed with ADD (and seeing how it has so dramatically impacted my life) without having a solution is very scary.

I understand the problem of focus, etc. when around groups of people; I also have that problem.  Consider yourself very lucky if that is the only issue(s) for you - many of us have problems reading, completing tasks that others zip right through, keeping focus in general, and the list goes on. lol

Life is a journey.  The older I get the more I learn how little I really know about things that I thought I had figured out.

BTW, I am only aware of: Concerta/Ritalin, Adderall, Strattera, Provigil, and Focalin.  What else is out there for ADD - it sounds like you have had quite the journey.
