Hi Jillete!
I have only had a chance to read one book on Adult ADHD so far and that is Driven to Distraction. It is an excellent book that is written by two psychiatrists who actually both have ADHD themselves.
I highly recommend it!
:o)
Your husband sound so much like me - perhaps you should talk to my wife
I have that odd sense of humour too - I think it comes from the impulsiveness that we all have, combined with a brain that doesn't work in a linear fashion, resulting in a very sharp wit that is sometimes .. err.. shall we say 'inappropriate'.
I'm always going to do 'this, that and the other' too, but it rarely gets started - and even if it does it rarely gets finished. And as for a lack of help around the house, well, we really do mean to help - honestly! We'll just do it in a minute - and then the brain moves on and.. well, I guess you know by now.
Temper? Oh boy, do I have a temper. My first wife was frightened of me, always worried that I would hit her when my temper ignited (I've never hit a woman, and I never will). My present wife just keeps out of the way and tries not to laugh - though when I kicked the door off its hinges because someone had parked outside my house she did get a little annoyed.
I must get around to fixing that door one of these days..
I don't know how you can tolerate it, I don't know how my wife does - in fact I'm going to give her a kiss right now...
... hmm, now she thinks I'm nuts too.
As for books, well the one most often recommended is Driven to distraction, but I can't tell you much about it because I have difficulty reading serious books (brain moves on midway down the page)
Good luck.

I think my husband may have adult ADD and by reading a lot in the forum and what is going on with my daughter makes me believe he has it. My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD back in November at the age of 5 and my husband has said he was labled daydreamer in school and had difficulties. He does however have friends and does sometimes have an odd sense of humor yet is sweet and loving. I am reading up on information now to help me but books designed for adults would help as well and I should have him see the doctor to know. Over the years we have gotton into many fights over " I am going to do this that and the other" and nothing gets done. I also have argued over lack of help around the house over the years ( we are going on 15 years and 10 married). My husband also has a temper when things go not as he wants them to gets frustrated easily and yells a lot and denies he is yelling. I do worry over my daughters future and she sounds like dad while playing with her toys and when she gets frustrated. At least for them I am a Social Worker by trade and have the listening and patience and work with people with disabilities. This website is wonderful.
One that I've really enjoyed is "You mean I'm not lazy stupid or crazy?" It made a LOT of sense to me! [QUOTE=Mark Goode]

Thank you all. I did write the book ideas down and will go to Media Play to order. Usually I do the reading and pass on the important stuff because my husband like others has difficulties reading. I will be more patient with him and with my little one. I live with two creative ones. Here is a good laugh for all my husband does not like cats so his e-mail is Catssuck.

as said before, driven to distractionAs everyone else said, Driven to Distraction is excellent. It makes an interesting read (even for most folks with ADD), because it is written as a series of stories rather than in "medicalese". My doctor recommended to me personally. It has stories about adults (male and female), as well as children, from all different walks of life.
As for the anger issues, yup, you can count me in too. I once put a hole in the wall by kicking it - wearing only a sock on my foot. I was driven by so much anger and adrenaline that it didn't even hurt.
