I was just wondering if anyone had taken Ritalin only for the first dose instead of 3x a day? We had a lot of rebound issues with many of the extended release meds with my 9 yo son and I've done this for school hours only.
His home behavior and eating habits are much improved and schoolwork seems to be okay whereas the last month when we took a med break b/c of the rebound problems he managed to drop his grades 1 letter grade.
I just needed some input, originally had planned to stop the meds until psychiatrist visit 2 weeks from now, but he was doing absolutely nothing in school except daydreaming so thought I'd try this. Just wondering if anyone else did this?
Thanks tinkerpixie 1969!I was only giving my daughter the Ritalin during school hours(when she was on it),but she has it so bad that I HAD to give it to her..Although I didn't give it to her when I saw she was calmed down.
My neice also takes it during school hours, shes 14. Very nice kid,and she only needs it to focus during school..that's it...
my son is on ritalin la and I think it is a godsend. He is happy, relaxed, no rebound at all!! Since we had such a horrible expierence with Adderall and Adderal XR. THAT drug had the worst re-bound I have ever seen. Concerta did not help him for the first few hours or the day. The doctor wanted to keep increasing the medication so he would have enough in the morning, then at night he was too wound up.
