New here and just wanted to say hi! | ADHD Information

Hello Everyone!

I've been busy just jumping in and replying to posts and I just remembered I never actually introduced myself!

I'm 30 y/o married to my wonderful husband and mom to two amazing kids. Our daughter is 2 and our son is 8 months. I was diagnosed with ADHD back in August '04. I started reading up on it after years of being mis diagnosed and suffering from depressions. And when I read all the symptoms it was like reading all about myself. It was quite sureal actually. So after doing tons of other tests (blood work etc) to rule out anything else, my doctor prescribed me Dexedrine and the results were nothing short of amazing. I feel like I have my life back and I am starting to live again the life I was supposed to. I realize now my depressions where directly triggered by the messes I would get myself into because of my ADHD. I see a therapist now who is helping me tremendously deal with the aftermath of chaos I have caused in mine and my family's life  but that is another post!

I currently live in BC, Canada but we are moving back to Alberta this spring. Are there any other Canadians on this board?

Anyways, I won't write much else since I know most of us don't have the attention span to read a whole novel about my life in this post

I'm just really glad I found this board, it is so good to "chat" with other people who are thinking the same way as me and going through much of the same things! I look forward to getting to know you all better!

Too funny,  I read your name the same way. LOLFellow Canadian and BC-er here! I'm in the process of being diagnosed myself - after years of joking that "I must have ADD" everytime I spaced out or forgot something, I decided to do some serious looking into it. Lo and behold, I fit the profile to a "T". I saw my family doc last week, who agreed my "symptoms" were consistent with ADD, and she referred me to a psych. I haven't seen him yet.

Anyway, good to meet you!

Welcome!

Nice to have you here.

Welcom, ChaoticCanadian,

I'm new here too, only joined a few days ago.  I only wish I had found out about this problem when I was raising my own daughter, who is now 22.  My marriage ended over this disorder after 14 years.  It's wonderful that you found out now.    I think you'll find the folks here very supportive.  Best of luck to ya.

Peace,

ladyhope
