Switching meds | ADHD Information
I'm hoping someone will please give me some insight...before I completely lose it. My son has been on a wide range of meds for his ADHD, but has had "diagnosis" that range form high functioning autism, to turrets, OCD...and so on. He has seen two psychiatrists, many dr.'s ...to mostly no avail. Right now we are weaning him to 25mgs of Strattera. So he takes 20mg of metadate CD twice a day, along with a 25mg of Strattera. He has definitely changed at home. No more horrible anxiety and sleeplessness. He is also eating and seems more like a typical 8 yr old boy. However, school has gone absolutely down the tubes. I got a "pink" and a "yellow' slip today. The normal things stated..."disrespectful, blurting, can't focus...etc" He previously was on Concerta 54mg a day...but I swear, looking back it seemed to almost give him hallucinations....has anyone experienced behaviour like this? Is it going to be either good at home and awful at school or vice versa? Is there something else he should be on with the Strattera? Has anyone's child exhibited signs of almost....I don't know...panic? hysteria? about things like thinking they are going to die from swallowing while they sleep? You'd think that after at least five years of this we'd have a grip, but I feel we are just losing a battle, and worried about our son.
