You guys talking about moi`?

No, but really, 'THIS IS ME, EXACTLY'!!!!!  I can't tell you how many times this has gotten me into to trouble, to the point of losing jobs, friendships, and even respect.  Why does this bother people so much?  If I could answer that question it would be such a relief to me.  When I do these same things I never mean to offend anybody or hurt their feelings, but amazingly, I always do.  Then I feel just awful and it bothers people even more when you try to apologize for what you said.  The damage seems so complete that most of the time I could not repair it.

Darlin','

It ain't just you.  Even my brother let it slip once about me being a arrogant know it all.  It is nice to know that I am amoungst kindred spirits.

Esther

EBurns38393.3962962963I thought y'all were talking about me!?!?!Oh oh oh!!! Me me me!!!

LOL. I do this all the time. If someone is telling a story, or talking about some fact, I just HAVE to jump in with my two cents, and/or my experience. I've noticed that some people just start coming to me with questions because I just may have an answer. But the vast majority just roll their eyes at me I'm sure ("here we go again...")
Though I complain about what the Stratera did to my creativity, it did
show me what it was like to be an active listener. I am now able to catch
myself before I jump into talking, but it takes effort to just listen to the
entire statement from someone before responding.
Tommy

That is what I was called the other day.   I'm pretty sure it is the ADD.

First-  Talking too much.
Second- Being passionate about anything that interests me to the point of becoming an expert.
Three- Insecurity coupled with wanting to share.

I really don't mean it that way.  I just get excited and the 'Oh, oh!  I know about that!' mode kicks in.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Esther

Oh my goodness this is soooooooooooooooooooooo me too!  We are such a group!
Yeah, my worst problem with it is I am really interested in the results of scientific studies on any topic. And I have the need to pop in and let people know those results if they are in any way connected to what they are talking about.
I research the hell out of things too.... a couple of years ago I decided I was going to try the Atkins diet. I bought the book, I looked stuff up on the net, I went to message boards. As a result, I also started researching artificial sweeteners, a topic of rich debate among the nutritionally conscious! I could have written my own book on each topic.   For the record, both are extremely safe, contrary to popular belief.

that is my world.
I jump in and say everything and anything I know about whatever the
topic might be. The joke in my family is that I know a little about
everything and a lot about nothing.

Even worse, my mind starts raceing when there is a topic out there and I
will blirt out a statement that makes sence to be but is usualy responded
to with a "where did that come from."

Stratera stoped the 'Oh, oh! but if you read my post on creativity you will
understand why I no longer take it.
Tommy

Yep, we're smarty pants know it all people.

And what's wrong with that?  Do any of you folks find most of the people around you just a little bit er .. dim?  Don't you find you can almost pull information out of thin air when others are scratching their heads and wondering where to start looking?

This ability to absorb information from our surroundings is one of our strengths.

So let's not apologise for it.

Strattera/creativity messing up  didn't bother our son that way.Noticed for first time our son laughs like anyone else. Never did before.rshnThanks, Esther.  Being here doesn't make me feel like a "square" attempting to fit into a "circle" in society.  I can be - just ME!  yeah, I think I fall under this category. When something interests me I get really hyperfocused. To the point that I can not sleep until I have researched everything on that topic that I can get my hands on that night. It gets really bad. But I can say that I know alot of stuff, especially useless information.Yeah, my worst problem with it is I am really interested in the results of scientific studies on any topic. And I have the need to pop in and let people know those results if they are in any way connected to what they are talking about.

Coldsun, we're known for that, knowing obscure information that most people do not pay attention to.

Mark, I think it's called *PASSION*.  I am an extremely passionate person, especially regarding interesting facts.  I can get carried away, but that might be the mania coming through, as well.  The lack of passion in ordinary society is what make them "dull" over all.  Boy - what I could have done with my life if I had channelled all my passion into a theatrical career.  Oh well.....

Haha, yep.  I'm a repository of useless knowledge as well.  Get hyperfocused on a few things that interest me and reserach them till I run out of things to read. oh. wow. i thought i was just obnoxious cuz thats what ppl have always told me.

i didnt know this was ADHD related.. hahah..

My manager has always told me to calm down and not blurt things out really loudly.. especially at my work.. it hurts when he gives me that 'look'

ya know.. the 'dont do that!!' look.

ahaha..

i interrupt ppl a lot tho.. but the way i see it is.. if i dont see it at that exact time.. it wont have the same meaning.  ya know.

< =""> So, BCGirl, maybe you have a calling- you could research and write books!

Hi y'all! This entire thread has O.M G., who found out about my life story! And than posted it on this board!

We're all very special folks with alot to offer. Maybe someday others will see why we tend to go to extreems. My hubby still finds it hard that I go into such detail or "just won't let it go" until I find an answere I agree with. YES! WE ARE SPECIAL AND GOOD FOR US!

Oh count me in too!

I am a research JUNKIE!  I research everything, I love Google, it is a great place to dump all the weird things I wonder about on a daily basis! :o)

The other day I overheard three ladies talking, one of whom was scheduled for an MRI on her knee next month. Anyways I was listening to the conversation, because, well I have ADHD and because it was also interesting to me  and one of them asks the other, what is an MRI anyways? So I pipe in "MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging and in simple terms is essentially a high powered magnet that targets the hydrogen atoms at the cellular level to create a picture of your knee and gather a more thorough diagnosis."

And they just stopped and stared at me, I was like..."uh, I used to be pre-med", I felt so intelligent and silly all at the same time. But after when I was thinking about it, I was like "Yeah, I rock"

It's amazing how I could pull that right off the top of my head, but put me on the spot and ask me what my phone number is some days and I am totally clueless

Heck, yeah. However, when it comes time to verbalize that information....uh, umm, that's when the words stick somewhere between brain and mouth. That's usually when I'm with people I know.

C.C....I've done that all my life -- listen in on strangers, and usually put in my two cents worth. Or say something witty and clever. They usually think I AM witty or clever. But when I do it with people I know (usually in a group), that's when they think I'm a know-it-all.

Ditto, ditto, ditto!

yes i can certainly relate... i seem to upset everyone with my "wisdom"- don't mean it though.

it is hard for me to remember that to feel smart often makes others feel dumb

which amazingly is not very popular...

anyone upset???
