I believe 6 weeks for better results seen.Dosage should be based on weight of patient.Depakote with is great also for mood swings and zoning out.Since this our son is doing better.I think therapies also help to concer underlining problems may help is best with meds.Since I have stopped yelling/screaming he is also doing better. I think brakes for us is necessary also.PMS times don't help me either though. Dad's need to give us brakes so we can have a life outside family. They don't understand that.  When  he is stressed we break and do something else.Then we come balk to it later. Try a calming thing before homework also helps.rshn
