Try Dexedrine in place of the Adderall.  It's the same thing, but use half the dosage.

Hi there. I am also in Canada and my son takes (took) Adderall XR.

For pills what i used to do with my daughter is place teh tablet on a spoon and using the back of another spoon press downa dn twist and crush the tablet the mix it into a spoonfull of peanut butter or jam or yogurt and have them eat the spoonful. You would want to check with the doctor first and make sure it is ok to take the drug this way but I found it worked for my daughter and tylenol.

As I said check with the doctor first.

We love strattera and we use depakote with it.Our son couldn't swallow before and practice as just happened. Can't be opened though. Take on ful stomach because upsets stomach otherwise.Have had no other problems. It's been 6 weeks before saw results on correct dosage.Other med has helped with zoning out. A lot less of that.rshn

Very different kid now. Still has bad days once in a while but who doesn't.Does a lot more by himself.

Hi! Health Canada issued a warning yesterday that effectively immediately, Adderall XR will no longer be dispensed by Drugstores until further notice. Apparently, there have been 20 deaths (14 in children) and they are unsure whether the cause has been attributed by the meds. I am in a panic since this is the only med my son can take as he cannot swallow Concerta. I found a place where they can liquify the meds but it is not long lasting. So....do you know of any easy way to get a child to take a pill?   Also....can anyone tell me anything about Strattera & whether it has been effective? Strattera is not yet sold here in Canada but I believe that it'll be out next month. Thanks....

straterra is an anti-depressant so it acts completely different then the stimulants. As an anti-depressant, it takes a while to kick-in. Your body slowly adjusts to the medecine and there isn't that "quick relief" like the stimulants. Also, because it takes a few weeks to get the full effect from straterra, stopping it will not immediately stop the side-effects. It actually alters your brain chemistry and will take a while to reverse.
