Hi ya'll. I'm so sorry to bother you guys again, but I don't have anyone else to ask.
My son seems to be having a problem with his Strattera, and I don't know what to do about it. He started taking it almost 2 weeks ago. He was doing great his first week on 18 mg. He slowed down a bit and seemed to be less inattentive, though still a good bit inattentive. This week he was increased to 25 mg. and it made him sleepy at school and "zoned out". So, the doctor told me to give it to him at night time. So I did; I gave it to him at night around 7:30. Well, the first night he woke up around 4 and was wide awake, a bit hyper too. This morning he woke up around 6 and has been going 200 m.p.h. ever since. He's even more hyper than he was the first day I gave it to him at night.
My question is....if I'm giving it to him at night, aren't the good effects of it being wasted when he sleeps? I mean, he slowed down when we gave it to him in the morning. It now appears that by giving it to him at night it has no affect on him at all. AND, if it's going to have no affect on him then why am I giving this to him? Is it too early to tell? I know I've heard that it takes 4+ weeks for it to get into his system good, so why were we having such good luck last week then? Is this medicine time-release or is it immediate, like his Adderrall? If it's immediate then aren't I wasting the effects of this medicine while he sleeps? I thought this medicine was suppose to last all day. Right now it only seems to be working when he sleeps...and I SURELY don't want to increase the dosage.
HELP! I'm lost. I'm ready to just stop him from taking it if it's going to keep him this hyper.

Momof2inSC38395.2789583333My son is on Strattera we did 2(10mg) before the 25mg. Dosage should be based on weight of person. He sleeps in afternoon some. I wake him up after 1 hour.I think just long day anyway. He did this before. Sleeping more can also mean child is in growth spurt. We have no refine carbs when at home which helps.Does take 4-6 week to see results. We do depakote with it also.My son was zoning out before then.I believe these are seizures regardless of what dr.'s say.I read not all seizures can be detected by a test. If in deap part of brain. I did that zoning out as a kid. Took depakote before FDA approved. Been free from this 18 years now.rshnRSHN38395.3523842593
