...our son is very hyper.  we've taken him to several child psychologist and psychiatrists since age 3 1/2 (he's now 5).  He's been on Tenex, Risperdal, Straterra, Clonidine and now Seroquel.  Nothing has worked.  We just started the Seroquel tonite.  If anyone has used this please tell me what side effects you expierenced.

My husband and I are trying to help our son, but at times find ourselves getting upset with him because of the way he's acting.  He doesn't listen to anything we say or ask him to do.  We have to repeat ourselves SEVERAL times.  I'm sitting here crying because I want to help my son, but I feel I'm making things worse by putting him on the medicine.  Please help me help my son.  I don't know what to do anymore.

How has the Ritilan affected your son?  Have you had any bad side affects?  I'm scared to try it.  We have an appt today with his doctor and I don't think the Seroquel has works.

Ive been on ritalin for years. It has worked well.. Recently I was changed to ritalin time release. its much better because it avoids the peaks/valleys in mood.

I feel your pain, Michele.  It's soooo hard when they are young.  We also began taking our son to psychiatrists/neurologist at age 3.  He had always been difficult.  As a matter of fact, at an ultasound at 21wks of pregnancy, the tech commented "this baby never stops moving.  I sure  hope you can't feel all of that!" I had no idea how telling that comment was!  It took a long time, several different diagnosis and many different meds to find something that worked.  Plain old Ritalin is what works best for him.  It's not a magic bullet, but it sure does help.  Why have they not tried him on any of the amphetamines?  They usually work better for controlling hyperactivity than Straterra (at least that's what my doc says.)  Antway, please keep searching for answers-for his sake and yours.  Good luck and God Bless.

Capd look it up on line way have also. Strattera takes 6-8 weeks to see difference.
