Strattera bad news.. long term better?two months ago. It did nothing for me but I gave it a shot (comitment). I have been searching with one of the best Dr's. around and I am a tough case, always knew I would be. Many of the side affects I had, especially sexually. But all of them do this with me, Everything works backwards on. I felt the sleepy larthargic state and nausia as well. this would cause the loss of appetite. I have to take at least 90 mg. of adderall and 120 of rittilan LA each day just to keep me running. So we are all so different. Don't stop! Reduce the doseage and increase much more gradgually. side effects usually diminish in time. Remember as you are younger you have a long part of your life to live, leave no stone unturned compleat each step to it's fruishion. Because you will always wonder inside if there was something you would have done differently. And you don't want to find out after two or three years, if onlyI had stuck it out?... Just cover all your bases before you run for home. By the way when I had my first rittilan LA I felt lik crap a zombe carb cravings etc.. In two days took two and worked much better. You just never know. I was taking Strattera for a couple of months as an ADD medication. It helped with my concentration and organization quite a bit but I didn't like the side-effect of restricted urination. What's with that? I was concerned it would at some time have a permanent effect so stopped taking it and the flow is back to normal. The restricted flow is an inconvenience but would actually be worth it if it caused no other permanent problems. Does anyone know what causes that the restricted flow and/or if it's caused by an enlarging of the prostate? Don't want to be risking dealing with an enlarged prostate. I’m a 27 year old male and I have been on 40mg Strattera for about 1 month. I had pretty much all the side effects you mentioned plus some. The headaches, nausea and loss of appetite subsided for me sometime around the 2nd week. I am still experiencing the sexual side effects, extreme fatigue and urination problems. On top of all that it seems to be making me an angrier person. I have always had a short fuse but now it takes practically nothing for me to blow my top. I have also noticed that at random times I might get a sort of twitch in one of my extremities. This is very infrequent but it has never happened to me before. The only benefit I have felt so far is a slight increase in my attention span causing me to be a bit more productive at work. My impulsivity is worse than ever though and I plan to tell my Psychiatrist when I go to my appt. this Monday that I will not be taking Strattera anymore. The side effects far outweigh the benefits for me. This is just my experience though. I would hardly say that I've been a long-term user but I have reached my breaking point with this drug. I've heard many people say that Strattera has been great for them so I would not recommend quitting until you really give it a chance. I'm a 19 year old male, I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was in 4th grade and was put on ritalin but it basically turned me into a drooling zombie not to mention I developed an eye twitch... My parents recently decided to bribe me to go on a new medication because due to "impulsive" recent events they want to make sure I won't do something stupid when I go to Australia this summer. Basically it was either Strattera or no Australia, and I don't want to miss out on an experience like that... Aside from impulsive things I do (I don't really think I'm impulsive, honestly), I do and always have had trouble paying attention in class and when doing work and huge organizational problems. For these reasons I figured maybe it wouldn't be the worst thing to test something new out. I've been on Strattera for 2 days, and have done an immense amount of research on it. I found many adult males complaining about ejaculatory problems and other sexual side effects. On the first day, I felt this drug in me heavily (40 mg), I definitely knew I wasn't in a normal state of mind, so I decided to basically masterbate to see if I would experience these kinds of side effects. I experienced early leakage before I was even fully erect, not to mention feeling the need to urinate all during the process and a completely unpleasant, even rather painful orgasm. Aside from this, which scared the crap out of me as I'm a very sexual person, I've noticed on both days that I've had mild headaches the whole time the drug is in effect, mild nauseau for a small period of time, a HUGE loss of appetite, and I've been incredibly sleepy and unwilling to do ANYTHING. I usually have a very hyper uppety personality (which I enjoy), but for the past two days I'm just moping around... I have no desires to go out at night or anything. Aside from allllll of this, my entire body gets all tingly or numb at random times... these ones I don't mind because it kind of feels like I'm doing some kind of party drug haha... Definitely so far I've had a miserable experience with Strattera, and in 2 days my dosage gets doubled to 80mg. I know it's been a very short while though, and I'm wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences with these things (especially the sexual side effects) yet continued to use Strattera for an extended period of time and seen them go away? I promised my parents I'd try it for at least another week, although I'm very reluctant.. I don't find myself more motivated or more concentrated or anything, just more calm... someone please tell me if it's worth continuing to see if maybe things work out for the better??? |
