I have found this forum very helpful but had never registered, your question prompted me to registger.  My son is in third grade and started on medicine in kindergarten.  He started on Aderall and it worked ok at first but he started to develop tics and they got worse.  The doctor switched him to Concerta and the tics nearly disappeared.  We have had to increase the dossage of the Concerta but the tics have not reappeared.  I hope this helps!

Stomach aches take on ful belly only. Anyone takeing any medacine should be monitored and have routine blood work. Cholesterol meds can effect liver also.Antidepression meds are found to increase changes of suiside. Warnings now have to be put on these drugs FDA mantaded.Any prescription drugs can lead to complacations.Herd on news. A good DR. would tell you this in my opinion. All these meds. probably have some negative like all prescription drugs do.Naturals ones can to.The bottom line is this. All bodies are different.Natural things God created for us. How did people manage before think of that?Chemicals in foods and environment, vaccaines, cleaning products I believe our the cause.Educate yourself on this for your own peace of mind.

Food allergies or sensativities I also believe play a part regardless of what some say.Notice in my son. Behavior changes mostly.School food and party's don't help either.rshn

We are getting SO frustrated!! My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD in kindergarten... We have been using Adderall XR (varied dosages, none more than 20mg). This year she is in 3rd grade and NOTHING is helping... We have tried them all and her doctor's suggestion is just to keep increasing her dosage. She has tics from the 20 now and I want to try something else...

What good/bad experiences have you had with alternative medicinces.. Strattera, Concerta, etc?? We are going to the doctor tomorrow morning for an earache and I'm going to bring this up again....

THANK YOU!

YOu probably won't get this message in time but my daughter is 8 yrs. w/ ADHD. She started on Strattera a month ago but the stomach aches are too much for her to bear - and that's only on 10 mg. We're going to stop and try something else. When I became concerned about the side effect I read where Strattera may cause liver problems like jaundice, etc. NOT GOOD, so I'm going to try Concerta I think. Just a heads up on the side effect we experienced. Good luck w/ your daughter.

Guanafacine, Dexedrine, Desimipramine, Imipramine, Strattera, Prozac, or a combination of the former.

The flow chart for trying medicine is

1. Ritalin (if doesn't work go to 2 etc...)

2. Adderall

3. Dexedrine (dexedrine my work well when Adderall and Ritalin don't)

4. Guanafacine (shown to be very effective with hyperactivity and concentration)

5. Desimipramine or Imipramine

6. Strattera

7. Prozac
