Thanks..
I just called my doctor again and waiting for her to call back. Asked about Ritlian LA so will just see.
I dont want to take the wellbrutin havnent heard anything good at all with that one, however some of these other ones are just as bad to they can be..
For strattea, that is all you hear on tv and yet it takes 6 to 8 weeks to get into your system she said before you will notice anything and with college she said no you dont want to do that one unless you start at end of year and go thru summer..
So, will see what next in line to try.. There has to be something out there that works I sure would think... just fusterating as it has been 4 months and nothing.. UGHHH

Hi,
Does anyone else have this problem like me other there for ADHD finding the right med..
Im 44 got tested since I went back to college here and since Nov to now have tried concerta and didnt do a thing. Then tried addreall XR and nothing and now I asked her if we could maybe up the dose to 30 to see if I noticed anything different.. NOTHING...
Forgot I tried Foclain for a week 3 times a day but got so sick on it and lost 4 pounds so I told her that I didnt want those and I flushed them down the toliet...
Just fustering it is... I dont have ADHD bad but just the concentrating, focusing, reading comprehension is where I struggle.... just boggles my mind that some people notice a big change just when taking say like 10 or 20 grams of this stuff.. UGHH
Any suggestions?? would be greatly appreacited here to try...
Thanks

luv2farmnd38397.6767708333I am on Ritalin LA, It has worked well for me I don't get the highs and lows I did get when I took Ritalin every 4 hrs. Good luck with your search
Tamara
I know it is very frustrating, particularly when you're in school.
I know its hard to be patient, but it may take months before you find the right med. And you need to try a med for more than a week before switching (except if it does make you sick). Maybe you should try Adderall in pill form (not XR). "Regular" Adderall works better for me than the XR.
Also, you may need more than one type of med. Many people have anxiety and depression problems that stem from ADHD. However, you need to speak to a therapist and/or psych. about those possibilities.
Can someone just tell me how can you tell if the meds are working?? I know the ones that I was taking havent and now I'm trying another one here called Dexestrone Spansules.... so yesterday I took 20mg and nothing and today took 30mg as she told me to increase it since I was at home all day today and I just dont see or cant tell anything??? HELPP.....
Anyone heard of this type of med??? or are taking it???
Im just not sure what I should be waiting for to feel like?? I have been trying to study for a test here coming up in a few weeks but Im soo confused on all this. I just need the meds for my reading, comprehension, focusing in college while the teachers are lecturing to class, I just cant remember anything..... otherwise I have the low end of ADHD she said..nothing else I have problems with. It just seems like it is taking forever to find a med that will work on me for what I need it for.
I know friends that are taking addreall XR, addreall, concerta say that when you find the right med you will notice it... but explain more of how will one notice if it is working????
Im just hanging in there to hope something will work soon here... I have to call her here by the end of this week now to let her know if it is working or not as she will be going on vacation so if it isnt she wants to try something else on me...I dont know why she dont want to try ritilan, wellbrutin I think she said is for depression and that she said I know I dont have at all but some of these others as I have been reading also say for depression also.. Im not one for meds to begin with so it is just fusterating as the school year is soon to be over here and just getting old since I have been trying different meds since November..
Im sure will find it here soon one day but I just would like to know how a person can tell when it is working for them??
DJT
DJT,
How you can tell that the meds are working works a little differently for each person - it depends (I imagine) on your most problematic ADD symptoms.
For me (I'm in college), I use reading as a gauge. If I can't read, meaning I constantly jump around the text looking for key words instead of reading sentence by sentence I know the meds haven't kicked in. Also, how calm do you feel? Do you feel like you have to rush thru activities or are you able to solely concentrate on the topic at hand. How is your motivation? Can you effectively block out outside noises (radio/tv) and still concentrate?
Good luck! Take it one day at a time.

You sound like me and so I would suggest trying normal Ritalin. The problem is it's impossible to get anymore.
Thanks for the info--
I have been trying the reading but nothing yet that I have noticed so will see how this week works out with this med..
For my motivation I always have had plenty of that... Everyone always ask me how come I have soo much and that they want some of it. Im one that doesnt require much sleep also so I can go to bed sometimes around 1, 2 or 3am and then back up with the birds you might say by 6:30-7...but this isnt anything new to me....I work on my online college courses when the household here is settled down sometimes when it is quite and nothing else going on and everyone in bed...
For blocking out noises and things like tv/radio and things no that hasnt seemed to happen yet for me and I was just thinking that a freind told me I would notice that but not yet....
For reading, I can be reading my college stuff or whatever then seems I get so distracted easily and look up, down and around to where ever the noise is at at the time, like on tv or one of the boys talking or my husband.. so nothing yet here either...
What doses of meds are you all on???
I had asked her for me to try that one here this time but she wanted to try this one.... Im sure I will get there to try that one sooner or later..
I know it is all different to everyones body and system on how the meds work but this is my fourth one to try now so one has to work here soon I would think... just gets old each day when I wait to see some results for even improvements in my test there terriable.. I have to study for a test a month before start and then I still get a low D it seems... ughhhh but she said when we find the right meds then they will help solve some of this also..
Thanks alot
