How Long for Strattera to work? | ADHD Information

I thought that Strattea took 6 to 8 weeks to get into your system according to my doctor?? but then it last 24 hours suppose to..

Im learning alot about all these meds for ADHD just cant seem to find one to work for me yet.. Waiting for my doc to call in the morning to see what next I can try.. just fusterating as I really need it for my concentration, focusing, comprehending for college...

Have tried concerta, addreall xr, foclain so will see what now she says... there has to be something or am I just one of these odd ones out there that just cant find one to help me here???  I have been trying working on finding a right med since November so it is getting old.. Now it has gotten to the point where I just get enough to try for a week instead of a month supply to see if anything happens.. so far nothing..

Istuart---

Concerta did nothing either for me. They say that when I find the right med to take I will notice it but nothing at all so far.. The only thing that I have noticed with all 3 meds I have tried so far is the weight loss some.

Im going to try this weekend  Dexedrine Spansules or Dextrostat she was going to mail out my prescription so will see which one when it comes on Sat here.. Do you know anything with either of these??

On Foclain I took for a week, had to take it 3 times a day but got so sick off of it and lost 5 pounds in a week not something I wanted to continue so flushed down the toliet.

I hope to find something soon to work but now just try something for a week before I buy a months worth..

I will have to read upon zoloft here some..

Take out Junk food also helps.Medacine should be based on your weight. Strattera does take 2 months TO TELL DIFFERENCE. Working well for our son.Bipolar disorder has same syptoms as add and adhd. Read on research area of this cite.

Yes, it does take a while, even 1-2 months, to feel the full effects of Strattera.  I was taking it for a while - it definitely kept thoughts constantly running through my head and helped w/ mood for a while.  30mg wasn't quite enough so the Dr. upped it to 60mg and after a week or so my brain felt numb - I couldn't think at all - I was "blank".  But each person works differently.  And unfortunately, it does take quite a while for most meds to kick in.  Hang in there....

To luv2farmnd,

I have been working on finding the right meds since July.  I'm currently taking a combo of Zoloft and Adderall.  I've tried Adderall XR (capsule) and it didn't last any longer than Adderall in pill form, so I'm taking that.  30mg 3x a day.  Like you, the drug is not perfect!  I definitely needed Zoloft for anxiety issues, but I had to up my Adderall dosage when I began taking Zoloft (I guess Zoloft kind of neutralized the Adderall).  Anayway, its 7 mos. later and I'm still working on it - it does suck.  I'm in grad school.  Its been a blessing to find out I can focus and work so much more effiecently, but very frustrating b/c my meds don't work consistently day to day.  I go see my psych. in 2 weeks and there is the possibility he'll add Wellbutrin to my ever growing list of meds.

I have wondered about Effexor - What was Concerta like?  And I've never heard of Foclain.

Ummm, I left one or two very important words out.  Shocking for someone w/ ADD right!!!!

I meant to say that Strattera kept thoughts from running thru my head all the time.     And once it started making me feel numb the Dr. said I was over-medicated, so I switched back to Adderall.

Not to discourage you, but over the past 7 mos. I've taken Strattera, Ritalin XR (slow release) and Adderall.  I've tried Lexapro and it did NOT work for me at all, but Zoloft has been great.

I started Strattera a week ago, now up to 60mg a day.

My wife has noticed a difference. I feel i'm more alert, less reactive. I'm wondering how long for full effects to kick in.

Thanks
