Questions about Adderall | ADHD Information

Share
Hello my name is Aaron and I have been taking adderall for about five years for my ADHD and have experienced so many things on it but I am still questioning it's effects on my mind and body. Here are some to name a few. Does anyone feel like it makes your body produce more oil, especially on face and back and causes acne. I ask this because when I am on it I have acne but say I quit taking it for a month the acne seems to go away. This can be a real blow to my confidence because we all know acne sucks but so does getting bad grades which seems to happen when I am not taking my meds. When it comes to sex I have the desire but it seems like the adderall makes me nervous around girls. Let's just say that I am extremely shy around women and I feel this is the adderall and not me because most ADHD people like myself  tend to be extroverted. I don't know what to do sometimes. I think we all question the meds we put in our system and what they truly do to us. For me taking adderall is like a game of tennis. A back and forth game of why I should continue to take it or to discontinue its use. Can anybody out there relate?Yes, stimulants can contribute to acne, as well as nervousness and excitability.  However, there may also be other causes at work for either or both.  Hope this helps. ADHD males tend to be extroverted, ADHD females tend to be more introverted.

As for the meds, talk to your doctor about trying something else. Every body (literally) reacts differently to every med. I also seem to recall in one of the other threads, someone talking about sexual nervousness. I think it was the High Sex Drive thread...
Thank you bcgirl1978 and RandomUser I really appreciate the feedback. I did not know about the introvert/extrovert thing.

If I have an oppurtunity to switch medications what has worked for you and have you heard about a new drug coming out at the end of this year called NRP104.
Here is a website that talks about it if you have not. http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=109&ST ORY=/www/story/02-09-2005/0002989122&EDATE =
ADHD males tend to be extroverted, ADHD females tend to be more introverted.
The way I understand it, there are two types of ADD-- ADHD (hyperactivity), and ADD inattentive.  I'm really quite certain I have the latter.  I am male but am very introverted.  Supposedly ADD/inattentive is more common in females and also goes undiagnosed more often than in males.
