need advice | ADHD Information
Hi
I have a very smart 7 year old boy,who really has no trouble academicly, he just has trouble in large groups, he has always had trouble in daycares and Schools, he's now in a very restrictive school(2 teachers 2 students) wich what seems to be a "good" program. His recent evaluation showed ADHD.For years we have tried Special Education and IEP meetings, and now are at a point bein asked from the school to use drugs to help.Im very against it, and with my divorced wife at her wits end the only thing I can salvage with her is a Homeopathic remedy, my question is; is any kind of medication really needed for this Mytical Disorder?,Does the answer really lay in me and my ex-wife changing our metods? would natural medication, be a safe way to assist in helping the problem?..
email me anytime!

ADHD is NOT a mythical disorder, and disorder is a poor choice as a descriptor as well.
For many people medication makes a significant difference in quality of life - I almost cried the first time I took meds, b/c I never realized that "this" was the way many individuals viewed the world. Much more tuned in, less apathetic, less anxious/rushed, and peppier. If you're against traditional meds, definitely look into natural/herbal alternatives.
Either way, you really need to read, read, and read some more on the subject! Go see a Psych. already armed w/ some knowledge.
