I am wondering what you all are taking and what are some of the pros and cons of your meds.  Can you please give your gender and age?

I'm 33yo Female on Straterra 40mg/day.  Its my first drug and it is working well.

Pros: I have adecreased appetite(Love it!!) I'm better at focusing and following conversations.  I can also complete a task.

Cons: My only complaint is the nausea/vomiting/upset stomach.

Thanks!

Im a 35 f on 20mg Adderall

Male (35) started 20MG Ritalin SR today. Today was great (long may it continue). Little bit "woozy" but no nausea, just great productivity.I'm a 19 y/o M. 36G of Concerta.

C.C.....I'm so very happy for you that you found something that works so well, especially since the possible side effects I've read about for Dexedrine are so numerous and you seem to have no problem. Yeah for you!

I would like to ask you, though, are you taking an antidepressant or any other meds also?

The dry mouth comes with most of the ADHD/ADD meds. And you're smart to drink lots of water...which most people don't get enough of anyways.

I don't think my practitioner will prescribe it for me, however. I'm on Medicaid, and they are real stingy when it comes to controlled substanced (they consider Concerta a mild stimulant, too mild in my opinion.

Lee03....I'm on Concerta 18mg right now. (55 yr old female) Not much difference yet. Some improvement in focusing during 1st week and communication, but not so much in the 2nd & 3rd weeks. March 1st will be one month, and will be increasing to 36mg. I'm hoping for some improvement. I believe my weight (just a bit Reubenisk ) makes a difference in what dosage will work.

I'm 29 y/o female and I am on Dexedrine, 20mgs a day (10 in the morning and 10 in the afternoon). It is the first drug I tried too. My Dr. said she has found that adults seem to have the best response to Dexedrine, so that is what she started me on.

Pros - I can focus! I can finish things! I can organize and stay relatively organized now! My house is actually clean and becoming clutter free <woo!> I still get distracted a lot, but the difference is, I can actually control the distractions and talk myself out of starting something before I finish the other thing. I can play with my kids and not get bored (that was hard to admit, that I used to feel that way ) and the crazy impulsive behaviour I had is totally under control now. Decreased appetite, which is great! I still eat, but I'm not craving the junky food and processed carbs etc. I can actually sleep at night, I could never do that before, my sleeping was always so disrupted because I just could not shut my mind off at night time, no matter how tired I was. Now, I can actually get a full nights sleep and fall asleep right away. And if it is one of those nights where I can't settle my mind down, I just take a 5mg of Dexedrine and 30 minutes later I am off in dreamland

Cons - the only thing I have noticed is that my mouth is really dry, so I just make sure to drink a lot of water. Other than that, Dexedrine has saved my life, I can't think of any other cons to be honest.

I am also on Celexa 20mgs a day, although I don't honestly feel a need for it since my depressions are actually ADHD related and the Dex helps with the ADHD and hence I don't get depressed anymore. I find in the USA they are very reluctant to prescribe it because it is abused so much. Also, Dexedrine here isn't a controlled substance, Ritalin is though. I honestly thought my Dr. would start me on Ritalin, but like I said, she she seen very good results with Dexedrine and Adult ADHD. I also like the fact, for my peace of mind, that this drug has been around for a long long time, so not much "post-market surveillance" anymore so to speak. Any brand new "wonder drug" makes me nervous.

Hi, I am a 31 year old female and I am on Adderall XR 30mgs, I have only been diagnosed in January.  With adderall I function much much better, I am focused, I no longer have insomnia, I can get tasks done, and work is much better.  I think my hubby likes me better too!   However my son's, who is ADHD, psychiatrist told me to have my doc up my meds 5mg!  He couldn't follow what I was saying, he said I jumped around to much from one subject to another.  side effects, loss of appetite, (YEA ) at first dry mouth, and a TERRIBLE taste.  Now because of a report Canada IS taking Adderall off the market for fear of heart problems and death. After taking a stress test and EKG, I have been cleared to continue adderall.  When  the report first came out my doc changed me to ritalin SR which I took for all of two days.  It was terrible, I felt depressed, I had a headache that just wouldn't go away.  I decided to call the doc and insist on my adderall!  I wouldn't want to change.
