Primarily Inattentive vs. Hyperactive | ADHD Information

That sounds about exactly how I am. I am also inattentive though, (Combined type) so I'm not sure if that plays a roll in anything. But yes those exact things heppen to me, I get up to get something to eat and then i see the dishes aren't done, do those, then I need to sweep the kitchen, oh better vaccum the house, dust, water the plants etc... (This just happened today and i just sat down.) Well anyways, yep it sounds like ADD to me.

Thanks for the response. I guess I phrased it a little bit wrong... I knew I was at least ADD - I have nearly all the symptoms of the classic innattentive type, just wasn't clear on whether the "H" belonged in there too. LOL.

Thanks again.

bcgirl197838404.8590972222Though I don't have any formal diagnosis yet (other than agreement of the possibility from my family doc), I'm pretty sure I have the hyperactive form of ADHD. My teachers couldn't keep me seated in school, I climbed anything and everything, and I was always looking for something to "do" when I was a kid.   Now that I'm an adult, I find that I still can't sit still. My legs jiggle non-stop. Sometimes I feel like my office cubicle is closing in on me - I feel like I'm going to crack up if I don't get up and walk around. Sometimes at home I feel like I'm going to crack if I don't "do" something, other than watch TV or sit and do my cross-stitch. Yet the idea of doing exercise or going for a walk or doing some other form of gross activity doesn't interest me. Yesterday afternoon I was bouncing around on the couch and sighing like a restless 5-year-old. I got up and started straightening up the living room and I felt better. I was able to relax by the time evening rolled around, and I watched TV and did my cross-stitch like normal.   Is this what it's like for an adult to be ADHD? Thanks Chocoholic.  I have tried doing the exercise thing... but like everything else, I'm great in the beginning but it doesn't take long to fizzle out. I need to find soem kind of physical activity that I won't get bored with.

Do you find that the motion of a car, or other sort of vehicle, helps? I LOVE snowmobiling, for example, and I love to go for short to moderate drives. My BF and I rented dune buggies on the Oregon coast a couple of years ago, and it was a BLAST. I also love amusement park rides.

It's like my body loves to be moving, whether under its own power or not!
We're twins! Yes, I am just as fidgety as you, and I have been formally diagnosed as having the "H", so bet you do too.
If its really bothering you, have you tried walking? For some reason, it really helps calm my restlessness if I walk for about 20 mins a day. Now, getting myself to do it is another story, but when I do, I feel great. I think I'm going to keep the shoe store in business- I go through a new pair of tennis shoes about every 6 mos! Hmmm... guess I'm more of a 'my own 2 feet' sort of person. Although I do love rollercoasters!

My other restlessness reliever is roller blading. I love it- feels like I am flying! I could literally roller blade all day long. Too bad it is only a summer sport. Cant exactly go out and do it when its 20 degrees out.Try ice skating! VERY similar motion and muscle groups, except you don't get any hills.

That's what I need to do - start ice skating again! Well.... a little late in the season for that now, but I'll have to keep it in mind for next winter.

I tried roller blading once and I didn't like it at all.... I don't like taking hills with wheels strapped to my feet! If I could find a flat place to do it, that would be ok!
