I work in a Long term Care facility
I'm a medical receptionist. There's a gorgeous 12 year old girl with add here and we draw pictures for each other (she doesn't know i have it too). Her brother has quite severe behavioural problems so the family situation is pretty tense. It's hard not to get drawn into some of the stuff that goes on in there.I'm also a nursing student and my childhood memories are coming back as far as doing bad on tests. I thought my dietary changes and exercise/meditation would alleviate adult add but I was wrong. I just failed a test and I'm barely passing 101! I just recently was put on Methylphenidate(Ritalin) 10 mg 3x a day so time will tell. Are your grades improving as a result of meds?I'm an RN at a military hospital, cardiology unit. To make up for the ADD, I'm obsessive-compulsive when it comes to medications and really important things. Still, I screwed up just last week and got in trouble. That's actually what got me posting here.
It's rough. People think you don't care about your patients or something. I don't know if I'll stay in the field or not after I'm done with my contract.
I am a CNA/QMA at a skilled nursing home. I am also currently taking an L.P.N. course. I intend on continuing my education until I at least get my M.S.N. I love my work. Not only do I enjoy helping people, the high level of energy and constant, random events throughout the day keep my mind more than fully engaged. Before I became a CNA I jumped jobs, from fast food to the military. Nothing has helped my ADHD as much as being a CNA. I usually don't even take my meds when I work. I just follow a very strict, unchanging routine.
