I AM SO FREAKIN MAD...... | ADHD Information

One way to go about it is to go out and look for another job.  If you get an offer you now have 2 things you didn't before: an option, and leverage.  If the new job offers more than the one you have now, you can either take it if you are still unhappy where you are, or you can go to your boss and explain that you have recieved an offer and you would really love to continue working for him if he can match the salary you have been offered elsewhere.  I really like boggled's idea. Apply somewhere else where you think you might like to be- if you get a better offer, go for it. If its good but you'd rather stay where you are, go in to your supervisor, let them know you have a good offer and see if there is a counteroffer.     I really suck at "selling myself". I have a really hard time with BS and putting thoughts into "professional" sounding words. I've never been great at job interviews, and I doubt I would feel any more comfortable asking something of my boss. If anyone has seen the movie "Office Space", that guy is my boss!!! I just know that no matter how much I prepare, I will still go into his office, get nervous, feel my chest constrict, and sound like a complete dork.

I'm sorry, I'm just having myself a pity-party right now.

Getting a raise by looking for another job is something I've thought about. It's how most people in this company actually get significant raises. But I have to be completely willing to move to that other job in case he calls my bluff. Which means it has to be something I know I would enjoy enough to actually leave the "security" of this job (because that's about the only good thing about it).

Why does life have to be so damn complicated?
bcgirl197838406.5611226852bcgirl,

Plan out what you are going to say to your boss.  Then go into his office and sell yourself .  Explain to him why you are worth more than he is paying you.  Turn what happened into a positive.

I left a job b/c somone else got a managerial position that I should have gotten.  She was a perky preppy woman and reminded the boss of her own sister.  Everyone was shocked (even her) that she got the job over me.  I had more experience etc...I couldn't handle the fact that she was going to make 10k more than me just for the base salary alone and that I was now to become her underling.  I quit and then had a baby.

EVERYTHING happens for a reason.  Sometimes we don't see the answer right away but it usually ends up for the best.  In my case, I have an amazing 6 year old that I may not have had if I received the promotion and continued there.

Good luck and let us know what happens!

I just found out that a co-worker with a job lower on the corporate ladder than mine is now making a full dollar an hour more than I make. That's a difference of over 00 a year. And here's the kicker - she has been with the company since last spring, and I've been here for THREE YEARS.

I was angered nearly to tears when I heard. I don't get it...... I really, honestly don't get it. Am I that unappreciated? People tell me often that I do a good job - people have told me many times "we bring you all the work because we know that, not only will it get done, but it'll get done well!".

Am I that much of a doormat???? Or is the world just that f----d up???

I don't know why I bother.

Here's a question for you - how do I now demand a raise out of my boss without letting him know what I know (salaries are supposed to be kept secret)? A man who is so utterly cheap and clueless that I will probably get laughed out of his office? Me - a person who has never asked for a raise in her life???? A person who doesn't know the first thing about making demands and being assertive??????? What if he just simply says no???

Thanks for listening. This just really is a kick in the pants.
