Want To Wake Up In The Morning? | ADHD Information

I posted this in response to the 'trouble waking up' poll, but figured a lot of people might not see it because it's on the second page and thought it might be helpful.

If you have trouble waking up in the morning, simply set your alarm an hour before you need to wake up and have your medication standing by with a glass of water. When the alarm goes off, roll over and take your meds, set your alarm for the proper time (or just have a second alarm set beforehand) and go back to sleep. When it's time to wake up, you'll have no problem at all. Basically, you're just exploiting the stimulant properties of your medication to help you get up instead of struggling to wake up on your own and then waiting an hour for them to kick in.

Imagine how nice it feels to hit that 'snooze' button to sleep for another five minutes. Now, imagine how great it will be to hit a snooze button and sleep for another hour. Combine that awesomeness with the awesomness of being wide awake and ready to go when you ARE required to get up, and you have some double awesomeness that I really think didn't deserve to be stuck on the second page of a poll thread :)

Yes, this works with any wake-up time and with any amount of sleep. Just don't be stupid and abuse this to get by on less sleep than you need, and you'll be peachy. :) I've been doing it for about two weeks now and all my morning problems evaporated immediately and have never returned.
