Feel like meds not helping | ADHD Information

I feel like the dosage of Adderall prescribed by the doctor is not helping anymore. I am 4 months into it taking 20 mg twice a day. I can't believe I actually built an immunity to it so fast. Is there something wrong with me. Can some one help with other alternatives Please?do you eat right  or eat  lots of sugar, simple carbs,  processed foods?  Diet  change really helped me as well as meds...GL, sorry you feel like it's not working I have no Adderal experienceHi Rae, I was not going to make any more posts on this subject because it is over and done with.  But I thought perhaps I would let you know that 1.  Ivil and I were both on a site, THIS ONE, so that is where we discussed it.  2.  Yes, she can make any comment and state any opinion and ask any question she wants, 3.  I was questioning her because I was confused about something she posted.  And I probably took a comment she made wrong, because after reading things about her, I am sure she did not mean how I took it to mean and I got upset.  I did not want to come off rude. And to Ivil, I am sorry that I did.  And as Ivil and I are both adults I feel that we will go on and forget about it, it's in the past and we are looking toward a better future.  But Rae, thanks for trying to make me feel the same way that you just said shame on me for.  I thourghly appreciate it.  And since this is the ADULT ADHD board I sincerely hope this is the last that anything is brought up over a misunderstanding/argument between two individuals.  Rae, if you think I am being rude also, then I am sorry I do not mean to I just wanted to state what I was feeling.

Hello Ivil.

I take AdderallXR 20mg TID and somtimes that isn't enough. I have been on Add.XR for 6 mos now. I also have an acidic system. Despite the fact that acid supposedly has a negative effect on absorbtion,  an antacid can seem to negate its effects alltogether, Interesting... A lot of times, what I eat and when I eat it has a lot to do with the effect it is able to have that day.

[QUOTE=bierce9800]Hi Ivil, I must ask you what you are talking about????  You have posted on several other boards talking about why you built up an immunity (at the ADHD MEDS board) and you explained why you had built up immunity, so why are you here ASKING the same question that you already answered on another board?  You are also on the Parents with ADHD children board telling one person (LOST) all about how herbal meds was the way to go and she needed blood tests and  and MRI's for her son.  So if you are really serious then I know we all would be more than happy to reply to questions you have, but I guess I am confused, with the other posts you have already made. Geez I hate it when people do this - It is okay to be asking different/same/contradictory questions - that is what life is about - finding answers and if a person has to do this by asking a million questions then so be it - Ivril is entitled to say what she wants - she is not hurting anyone - so dont try and belitte and embarrass her!

And if you are both on another site - then that should be kept separate to this one.  Dont try to make people out to be fools - all you have done is make ivril feel bad about herself - shame shame shame tch tch tch

Bierce 9800,

The answer to your question is that this message was posted previously to the ones you describe. After, writing this message, I began to look for immediate answers from my pharmacist and through personal research as of why the medications were not efficiently producing results anymore, when in theory they should. After knowing this, I thought it would be thoughtful to share any newly acquired information with the rest of the group.

Furthermore, I am also a parent of an ADHD child. All the submissions on other posts by me were made from a parent's perspective, from personal life experiences (since a variety of Phsychiatric disorders are present in my family) or are subjects that I am currently in the process of researching. These are only intended to offer a friendly tool that can lead to further personal research and scrutiny of the subject. My unique situation (experiencing untreated gastritis, stomach ulcers, and ulcerative colitis), does not apply to all ADHD patients. My body's high acid production and low blood levels may be inhibiting the efficiently of Adderall and many other medications. This is the answer I was for some time desperately searching for but was unable to find through my professors and, sadly, through my medical providers—and the reason for this post and all encouragement for other's to look for alternative answers rather than rely solely on medication change or dosage upgrade. I have requested blood tests, but these and other means to determine exact physiological and psychiatric problems are not approved with ease by many doctors.

I sincerely offer you my apologies for not presenting my request for help in clearer manner. When coming here, to these forums, I feel like letting go, being the natural unorganized, inattentive me. Without self-consciousness, I poured my thoughts and feelings as they came to me at the time.

maybe you need a higher dosage. talk to your doctor and see what s/he has to say about it. i've been on 5 different medications that didnt work and now i did find something and i'm playing with the dosages to see what works best.Hi Ivil, I must ask you what you are talking about????  You have posted on several other boards talking about why you built up an immunity (at the ADHD MEDS board) and you explained why you had built up immunity, so why are you here ASKING the same question that you already answered on another board?  You are also on the Parents with ADHD children board telling one person (LOST) all about how herbal meds was the way to go and she needed blood tests and  and MRI's for her son.  So if you are really serious then I know we all would be more than happy to reply to questions you have, but I guess I am confused, with the other posts you have already made.

I felt that it wore off after only a month..
