OK, I am having the day from hell.
I have ADD so I statred to see a Dr in Dec/04 to treat me.
He put me on Concerta in Jan/05 and it has been a god send.
The problem is that Concerta is considered a controlled substance the Dr tells me he cannot call it in to a pharmacy, do refills or do mail order for my prescription. My insurance co-pay is ! for Concerta. Now to make matters worse I just found out today that my Dr requires an office visit to hand me my prescription, thats an extra co-pay! so now I am up to 5 a month to treat my ADD. I am devastated! That's just to much $ to spend per month. I was so happy to be feeling better and focus and finally concentrate better. I don't know what to do, does anyone have any advice or suggestions to help me. I live in Florida and I don't qualify for any kind of financial assistance.

Dr visits: non stimulants can be refilled. Stimulants because are a narcotic. This is also to make sure doing ok.Our son know goes evey 3 months. only on med since Nov.Copay 20. meds 95.month but on 2 meds.kjvbI think this is pretty much standard practise for schedule 2 medications. The only way around it that I know of would be to see if some of the non stimulant meds work for you. I also take Concerta...and my dr also needs to write an Rx each month because it's a controlled substance. However, she'll leave the presciption at the reception, so all I have to do is pick it up. And I see her as often as necessary, especially for blood results to keep an eye on liver, etc. Or we'll talk on the telephone.
