EKG | ADHD Information

anxiety or panic?   Chest pain from ischemia would show in an ekg I think  but am not sure. I think  the O2 shortage  changes  the  wave pattern  that's the point of stress tests.  Always smart to talk to your DR. They  can do overnight EKG Holter moniters to get a snapshot of a 24 hr period. the big  voodoo with ADHD meds  and the anti  med sites( scientology COUCH COUGH) is  Sudden death which is sudden  and  the sites  that  show the  case numbers omit   most of the cases involve  combinations of drugs  taken by  people not even prescribed them...lieing with statistics the American Way!

..I  have anxiety disorder and   the chest pains FEEL LIKE A HEART ATTACK to me when i get a panic attack.  If you do some research you will see ADHD  is often accompanied by  anxiety disorders, depression  and  substance abuse. No the drugs dont make kids  drug addicts at least according to recent  stuff I have read.  I keep reading  the occurrence is  higher in diagnosed unmedicated kids than those taking MEDICINE and the MEDICATION is MEDICINE for a real condition  despite what   the ignorant say... kinda makes sense if you think about ADHD.

I had both a baseline  before medication and after EKG  to check for changes btw since I do have  lone atrial fibulation( controlled)

My daughter had an EKG as preliminary testing prior to being medicated for ADD (no H).  Since then she has complained of heart pains.  Sharp pains.  She tends to be a drama queen, so I'm never sure . . .

However, my sister's son also had an EKG and has since been complaining of heart pain . . .

Does this make since?  Has anyone heard of this or had any experience with this?

If I am reading your question correctly...the EKG (ECG) will not cause heart problems or chest pain. If she is having chest pain then you need to speak with her doctor. It isn't a result of the EKG. Some little kids get pains like this and it is actually muscle pain or chest wall pain. If things change when she is active, gets tired, sweaty, trouble breathing then it is a definite indicator of a heart problem. My step-son suddenly had every side effect in the book and we then found out that his mom had told him what the side effects were going to be....funny that then for attention he got every one. Maybe your daughter and nephew know that they were taking a "picture" of their heart and now are hyperfocused on heart stuff. Keep an eye and talk to your doctor, but this is absolutely not caused by an EKG. Sudden death from heart problems doesn't usually have signs and symptoms, that is why it is sudden death. It is usually from an undetected heart problem. I am assuming that your MD gave your daughter a clean bill of heart health, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Thank you "friends" for your input.  I knew it didn't make sense that the EKG could do anything, but . . . you start to wonder.  She would be one of those kids to "focus" on things like that . . . . .

(She always has an ache or pain, so I don't always know what to believe .)

I haven't had a sit down with the results of her eef,ekg and blood work yet.  I will mention to the Dr. about these "pains".  I told her I thought she stretched something.

My sister has been taking her son to get checked regarding his heart "pains", but that is because he has already started his meds and she is trying to be careful.
