My son is 17 and has grown to 6'2" and 155lbs and is still on 30 mg Adderall XR which has been his dosage since he was 13 and nearer 100 lbs. My question is whether or not he should have an increase in dosage as he has grown. The medication still appears to have some effect and certainly teachers etc know with some certainty when he has not taken his medication. However it seems to have lost some efficacy and I wonder if he would be more effective with an adjustment. He is unreliable about taking his medication.
My second question is about my husband who is also ADD and undiagnosed and unmedicated. He freely admits that he is sure he is ADD but I cannot get him to seek help. With a daughter who is also ADD (but who is at peace with the situation, takes responsibility for and manages her meds well and handles the whole subject with grace) I am an island in a sea of frequent chaos. Any advice about the husband would be welcomed.

The dosage of adderall isnt based on bodyweight. A 300lb person might take 5mg while a 100lb person take 60. But he might want to go back to the doctor just to make sure hes at the correct dosage. That is quite a while and his chemistry has probly changed quite a bit in that time.
As for the second part, if there confortable with it, theres nothing you can do. And honestly, if i were add, but didnt want to be medicated for it, i would want it left at that. Some people find it better, (more creativity ext...) and if I were out of school, i would be fine without it for the most part.
