My little girl started the melatonin 1 mg 2 nights ago and the first night she did sleep all night but got up and came in my room to go right back to sleep(which is a whole other issue to get her to sleep all night in her own room),but lastnight she had 9 FULL hours of sleep in her own bed.i went in to wake her up for schhol and she was so refreshed and ready to go,in a great mood.i pray to god that this continues for her cause like i said she was so much more rested and in good spirits,it makes it a great day for mom and her both.

this diet pill is ok to give to children?it says it is a adult diet pill on the bottle,do i have the right one im looking at?

Has anyone heard of Melatonin?I have a little girl age 7 and she is on concerta 54 mg and clonidine 0.3 mg for bed.The concerta seems to be slowing her down to focus but she is having bad mood swings to the point of exploding and then 30 minutes later acts as if nothing even happened,my main question is does this melatonin work to help sleep?

Please HELP give me ur input please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sandra,

I give melatonin (1mg) to my 6 yr autistic and MR son to get him to sleep.  It will usually put him out like a light about 30 minutes after I give it to him.  It is my understanding that our bodies contain this anyway.

Thanks,

LJD

Yup, melatonin is one of the chemicals that allows for sleep in the first place. You might have to mess around with the dosage, some poeple only need 1mg, and others need up to 10-15. Just depends on the body. Also, dont let her be near light after she takes it, light weakens the effects of melatonin.
