I just started taking 10mg Ritlin and find it to be hit or miss when I take it. Hit or miss meaning sometimes I can really feel it working and other times I feel nothing from it. I'm realizing to feel it I have to skip breakfast and have an empty stomach which I hate beacuse then it forces me into a late lunch from the Ritlin surpressing my hunger. The other problem is it's great when I'm on it but then once it wears off 2-3 hours later I miss the effects and it makes work even harder. My mind is so clear and organized while I'm accomplishing all my tasks then boom the effects wear off and I feel lost. The best way to describe it is like having bad vision and living with it but then someone give you eyeglasses but 2 hours later takes them away. You get used to the good vision and then you go back to blurry and its terrible!
I'd love to try an all day med like you have.
After posting this on the medine board, I thought it might be better to post on the adult add board - I'm new to this message board stuff.
I am a recently diagnosed adult and am currently on Concerta. Just increased from 27 to 54. Before Concerta, I was on Ritalin (generic) 10mg in morning and 10 in the afternoon. I wanted something that would last longer and without the headache (if I didn't take the afternoon dosage), so my doc changed me to the Concerta. Maybe I'm crazy but I think I actually do better on the Ritalin. It seems to work quicker and better for me. Maybe I just think it works quicker because the Concerta is a time released med and it releases slower. I also like the "side effects" of Ritalin better. I was never hungry and was very thirsty - so I didn't have problems drinking 64 oz of water every day. Also on Concerta, I am not able to "fiddle" with the dosage. I can't cut it in 1/2 if I'm only working 1/2 day. Is it just me???
