Adderall: Chest pains or Heart? | ADHD Information

I asked my doc about the chest "pain" and he too mentioned that these meds tighten your muscles in chest area. If it hurts when you press chest, its probably related to muscle tightness.  I experience this with 10mg too with no racing heart or high bp.

Hey.. im on dexamphetamine for my ADD. Im from australia, so we dont have adderall, so i've only picked up what i know about it from the net.

I hear its a mix of dex and other amphetamine salts. I got chest pains from my dex, and bought it up with my doctor whilst seeing him for an unrelated problem. He checked me out, and told me that its just muscle pain from mild anxiety attacks. This is the physical sense of anxiety, (not me freaking out mentally) brought on by the stimulant effect of the drug. he told me it was nothing to worry about, but if it got worse or i had any more questions to go and see him.

Id suggest seeing your doctor, but i just wanted to say good luck, and youre not alone with it so dont fret to much about it.

I am 22 and have been taking adderal xr for the last year.  I take one 10mg 5 days a week.  On two days I week I take a break from the med I drink coffee instead.

I have noticed several side effects, most importantly I occasionally (once every other day) feel mild chest pains located near my heart that go away after a minute or so.  I ignored them because they do not seem related to a high heart rate (they can happen when I am tottally chill) and the pain increases the more I expand my lungs (meaning its probably just another muscle and not my heart).

I also have mild ticks that can appear on any muscle in my body (but don't last long), and an occasional "tired feeling" in my chest that leaves after a few minutes - not associated with a high heart rate.

I am concerned because my father and has a congenital heart valve defect.  I had an ekg and nothing showed up, and I  tested my blood pressure and it does not seem abnoral.  I also had my heart examined by a cardiologist when I was like 4 years old and they found no evidence of the defect (though I don't know if these things take time to reveal themselves).

Has anyone felt similar side affects and could offer me some advice? Also, do you have reccomendations for a replacement medicine.  Concerta made me moody and didn't help much, and strattera had almost no effect. I would bring these issues up with my doctor, but I don't want him to cancel the prescription.

I am 17 years old, and also have chest pains from Adderall XR 20mg usage once daily.  My doctor suggested that I take a lower dosage of Adderall XR 10mg a day until I no longer have chest pains, and it helped.  Of course, I noticed the drop to 10mg wasn't working as well as the 20mg did for me.  However, when finals started, I started taking 20mg's again, and noticed an amazing increase in my concentration, and to ability stay awake.  I decided that I would keep using 20mg when second semester started, regardless of the chest pains.

I do suffer from asthma, and thought that might be a cause of the chest pains.  When taking singulair, or 'QD All Once a day' (a fairly new drug for better breathing) I have no chest pains.  In normal instances when I climb the stairs at school smothered around hundreds of other students, I usually have a rapid heart beat, which I imagine is brought on by anxiety?  When I take Adderall, I have chest pains instead of rapid heart beats.  I mean Adderall already raises your heart beat, and if you have instances with a rapid heart beat you can only expect to have chest pains.

I asked my friend at school, who has been on all kinds of ADD medications for 8 years, and he's currently taking Adderall XR 25mg once a day.  He told me he experiences chest pains regularly, and is used to it.
