Stratera vs Adderall XR | ADHD Information
Is anyone contimplating the use of this medication instead of Adderall XR? I have reservations about the "always on" feature of the drug.My son just recently started strattera so i did a lot of reading about it. I guess its advantage over stimulants is you dont get the behavioral difficulties you encounter when the stimulants wear off. I hope that helps.Strattera made me feel more "even keeled" and I slept a lot better than I usually do, but thats it. It did nothing for my actual attention deficeit Strattera also made me nauseous, my left arm and both feet numb and a tad bit drowsy/dizzy (not bad, just a teeny..almost a slight alcohol buzz feeling) Not to mention gave me higher blood pressure. It was like 155/98. My heart rate was 111 resting. I have switched to Adderall XR 25mg/day for the last few months, not only does it work better for my attention, organization and general insanity, but last Doc appointment my blood pressure was 112/70-something and my HR back down into the 80's (its always been a little high) I know everyones different, but I just thought I'd share my experiences with the two, since its been a fairly recent event.Hello all.
It seems Straterra works for some, and not for some... for me I had to
get up to a dose of 120mg a day to feel the beneficial effects of it,
and at that dose I also had some unpleasant side -effects.
I seem to function well with either Adderall or Ritalin, just fine.
I'm 31 been on Straterra six days. After the first two days where I suffered serious drowsiness followed by insomnia I feel ok. I had tried my daughters Adderall XR and it felt like I was on something. I worked but I felt not quite me...
I went to the dr. and they gave me Strattera. My heart was skipping beats and my heart murmur was louder than usual. I attribute that to the Adderall but I didn't tell her I had tried it with the illegality of it all. I'm thinking of asking my daughter's doctor about switching her because you know the minute her Adderall wears off. Where as my Strattera leaves me on an even keel. Plus if her Adderall was doing that to my heart I shudder to think what it may be doing to hers
I just stopped taking Strattera because it made me so dizzy. I was just diagnosed with ADD, I am 34, and had only been on Strattera 1 1/2 weeks before I was taken off because I felt like I was carrying around a 50 pouind weight in my head.
I am starting Adderall XR today wish me luck!

Strattera has done nothing for me at 120mg now for 6 weeks so just fusterating for me it has been since I have been trying to find the right med since last November and nothing yet so down 6 meds have tried and will what will try come next week..
Addreal,Addreal xr, concertan, foclain, dexstrose spanules, dextraphamine. NOthing, Im 44 and need it for attention while sitting in on some college coureses that Im taking along with focusing, concentrating reasons...otherwise Im fine in all other areas..There has to be something out there for me but many more pills to try I suppose so will see..

Think it's more of a trial and error thing anyway. Not like we really
have a choice of what drug to take. Most times only one works and all
the others are horrible. It's usally Adderall was great but Stratterra
made me sick. Or Adderall was horrible but Stratterra seems to be
helping.
You can always pick what mediaction to try first or choose to go
unmedicated but that's really the only choice our bodies give us.
you are totally right MafiaKiddo!just the process of getting the right cocktail that works for you can really be hard and frustrating.

Hi... I'm new here. Not finished with all my testing.... but so far, not conclusive ADD, but tests came out poorly in all frontal lobe areas... that's the ADD area. Going back next week for learning disabilities tests.
Funny because I'm a special ed. teacher.... I've been dealing w/these issues in children for 15 years. NO WONDER I UNDERSTAND THEM SO WELL
Neurophychologist who does the testing is sending me back to neurologist for brain MRI and meds after I complete the LD tests.
Her feeling is that if meds bring relief from ADD symptoms... which I have.... that's all the diagnosis that I really need!
I would appreciate ANY and all input re: meds. I'm on Prozac for depression. It would be helpful to hear from anyone who also is taking a drug "cocktail".
Thanks everyone.... glad I found you.
Strattera on full stomach.
I am not a dr. just educated by a lot by different people.I am Si and so is my son. He is adhd. I had epilepsy w/ ld as a kid.Hang in there they will fing their place in life. I love swimming, gardening, helping others,Tv, cooking.
Hey all
I've been on Adderall XR (30mg) for almost a year now, I've noticed a HUGE help with my attention, focus and at my job however, I've also noticed some bad side effects. When the meddicine wears off (about 7-8 hours after I take it) I start to feel depressed and overwhelmed. Are there any other medicine's or alternatives to Adderall XR that will help my ADHD for longer during the day and not give me the side effect of feeling completely out of control when it wears off? I'm desperate here
Thanks
Shaggy
Hello all,
I am a manager in a very high pressure job in a huge corporation. Also,
I am 24. I have received numerous awards for my excellence and have
always been the best of the best. That is just how I operate. I am
taking Adderall XR 10 mg. and started this past Monday. I could tell a
huge difference in the way I could concentrate, focus, etc. but the
speedy effects were awful. In my career, I have never raised my voice
to a client, become rude, indifferent or cruel because I resolve the
the highest level escalations possible. I HAVE to diffuse the worst
situations and have always loved doing that. Turning the bad situations
into good ones. I also represent the President of the Company. WELL,
for the first time in my career, I had taken my Adderall XR at 7 AM
like usual and had very little to eat that day. I had lost most of my
appetite during the day. All of the sudden at 5 PM I client called and
it was really a simple escalated matter that I could assist with.
However, when the client needed assistance (it was a problem I had
never encountered before) and was just berating me to no end. Little
did I know that my voice was getting louder and louder and louder. I
could FEEL my blood literally rushing, I was getting physically hot and
for the first time, took a client's problem personally. Needless to
say, I got pulled away and was scolded about my behavior. I was
embarrassed and felt horrible. I actually cried for an hour because I
was so distraught. Let me tell you: This can NEVER happen again. This
position dicates control, diffusion and major empathy. I had seen the
side effects of Adderall XR but thought it would never happen to me.
Emotional outburst! I felt like I had almost lost my job that day...
This was THE worst day of my career to date. Has anyone ever had an
experience like that at work? Although I could "focus" better I can not
let this happen again...Please, if ANYONE has ever had something like
this happen at work, please respond. I will NOT let a RX take
over my life and my source of income, benefits, etc. I appreciate
anyone taking the time to read this...
