i really dont know anything about the adderal,i wish i did so i could give u advice but i do know my daughter is on concerta and the doctor just upped her concerta to 54 mg and she has been having a lot more bad nights then good with her moods and temper fits and so on.I wish you all the luck and if need be i would take him to the nearest hospital,i had to with my little girl cause she got very violent and started talking about crazy things.Have you ever had any other episodes with your son before now like this?

Seven year old son had ADHD, so we think.  Put him on Adderall for two week and was awesome.  After two weeks things went down hill his behavior at school seemed to get worse.  We took him off of the Adderall and tried Concerta for a few days.  My husband and I didn't like it at all, night time he seemed to get very emotional and mean and made weird faces.  Dr. said to go back to the Adderall just a higher dose so today we went to 10mg and he had an awesome day at school.  Around 6:30 things changed.  He kicked his brother in the face, when I took the playstation away he become crazy.  Kicking me, punching me.  I left the room and he put his bookcase in front of the door.  I had do have a relative come over and try to talk him down.  Is this normal, do I take him off the adderall?

My son is 7 too. He was feeling awful about himslef and school. We tested. ADHD diagnosis. Stimulants had bad effects for him (we tried several). He developed ticks (eye blinking), didn't sleep well, and , worst of all, had horrible moond swings. He would be yelling/kicking/screaming, saying things like, "I hate myself/I wish I were dead..." Where on earht does a 7-yr-old learn to talk like that?

He had said some negative things about himself before the stimulants (due to trouble in school), but it got way worse after medidate and aderall.

We have been using non-stimulants since then. NO MORE talk about hating himself/wishing he were dead. It took awhile for eye ticks to disappear. Focus/control is better, but we're about to switch meds again.

Other people I know say aderall was the perfect fit and with other behavior management, all is right in their world. EVERYONE reacts differently.

Call your doctor. It sounds like you just don't have it right yet.

I don't either. It 'sucks,' doesn't it?? He's my son. I don't even want him on any drugs.

Good luck!
