Hypnosis Difficulties | ADHD Information

Just wondering... is there anyone that has tried hypnosis (either self or professional), only to find out that you can't do it? My guess is that since we can't turn off all the thoughts in our heads and focus, that it's not possible... either that or it's extremely difficult. If you have any suggestions or success stories, please write those too.

Yes

I tried to hypnose myself. Strange I know but I bought once a book about it and I really tried to hypnose myself. No chance...

LOLLOL

I got professionally hypnotised when I was about 15 because I had bad tics from Tourette's Syndrome and low self esteem to go along with getting bullied at school.

I thought I just went to sleep and the next thing I knew I was waking up in this doctors office 2 hours later and no idea what I was doing there. But I was conscious and talking to the guy the whole time. I never knew what he said until a couple of years later when I asked my parents. He told me I was confident and happy and didn't have any problems, so I became much more confident.

As soon as I found out what he said I started getting tics again. Wish my parents never told me, but up till then hypnosis really worked for me. I'd probably go again.

I hear it's often very effective for quitting smoking too. They tell your subconscious that you don't like cigarettes anymore and deep down you no longer want to smoke.

I was hypnotized in a group for quitting smoking. It actually worked for 3 months for me. Then I thought "Wow, now i can just have one once in a while at a friend's house." Wrong!

To be hypnotized you must also be in a willing mind to do whatever they are hynotizing you for.

Filip, I think to self-hypnotize yourself, you'd need to make a tape of your voice that you could listen to. Is that what you were told to do in that book? I know if it involved slowing the mind down, sort of meditating, I would definitely have a difficult time, too.

Eliza...you know I undertand you're parents telling you after all that time it was working. I never thought of going for hypnotism for my tics. hmmmmm Thanks for the idea.GypsyWomyn38416.7536921296
