Hi!

A friend directed me here while I'm going through testing and all the fun stuff of ADHD and/or Aspergus Syndrome.

A quick bio:  I'm 29 (female) and a mother of two felines who only use me for food and chin rubs.  I excelled in school; top of my class. However, my school was different as it was a small town place where teachers made exceptions when required. University was harder; I worked full time and went to school full time.  Barely made any friends (far too busy) and made it through with C+s.  I am a prolific writer and am currently working on a novel.  I am having varing degrees of success with that motivation  I have a high IQ, but I sometime forget to put underwear on .  My idea of a "perfect" day is biking 16km at a time or strapping a 40lb pack on my back and hiking the mountains. Unfortunately, I'm not in as good of shape as my brain thinks I am and I often can't walk for 2 days after I do these activities  I'll work on that!

After putting it off, I have agreed to partipate in all of the testing for my doctor.  I don't like medications for a few reasons - I don't like putting stuff into my body unless I absolutely need it and I usually have odd side effects to medication (I hate anything that changes how I feel...unless it involves removing a tooth ache).

I'm interested in non-medical treatment information.  I have not been confirmed as of yet, but I am researching information now in case I am diagonsed (the specialist agreed I have tendencies to both, but wants to narrow it down before saying for certain, and I agree; I hate vagueness).

I've read some posts here with success with food. I eat a 95% vegetarian diet (slowly working to 100%), mostly whole grains, fruits, not nearly enough vegetables and a bit too much Coke (the drink, not the powder).  Not much of a sugar junkie, but I love my greasy food.  Also, are there any good self-help books out there; ones with mental exercises and lists and charts? I required lists and charts in order to function properly.

Thankfully, I have grown out of the days where my mother had to safety pin things to my clothes so I wouldn't forget stuff (now I just put it on my shoes the night before), but I have a long ways to go before I'm able to effectively manage all of my wiring issues.

Any help or direction would be great. Thanks for letting me ramble on about myself :)
