I'm only up to 20 mgs of strattera and already my heart rate is at 96 beats per minutes and I've had chest pains at night. What the hell am I supposed to do now????
cheekydeeky, frusturated beyond anything
Well, straterra blocks the reuptake of norepinephrine. Some of the actions of this hormone on various bodily systems include increased metabolism, increased blood pressure, incresed mental activity, increased blood flow to the muscles, and increased heart rate.... so perhaps you don't have problems with norepinephrine levels... but dopamin and noradrenalin instead? Have you tried some kind of stimulant, like Ritalin/Concerta?
Well, you should stop taking Strattera right away then!
It blocks the reuptake of norepinephrine, and norepinephrine could be compared to NitriousOxide injection, on a race car. It works all your systems at overdrive.
Have you tried low dosages of Ritalin? It should only stimulate the production of Dopamin and Noradrenalin, and if you really suffer from ADHD, you shouldn't get insomnia/hyper?
They originally wanted to put me on Adderall XR but the cardiologist said "no way". I have a congenital heart defect and finding treatment for ADHD without having significant negative impact on my heart has been nearly impossible.
