strattera side effects | ADHD Information

wow, thanks for all the great info. I'm still taking the strattera although I noticed it is actually making me feel kinda fuzzy headed and wierd. I think I would rather take something else as I have noticed a strong 'drug hangover' feeling about 6 hours or so after I take it (strattera has a 5 hour or so active level in the body so I'm probably feeling aftereffects). I think I would like to try adderall or dexamine? as they are more established drugs that have been tested more over a longer time but I don't know, I'm not a doctor. As far as the effexor goes, I took that for like 2 years but didn't see any difference myself but I hear some people really like it. Thanks again.

As far as Stratera I have a 11 year old boy that has been taking strattera for 2 months and I just dont feel it is helping him at all. He has not had any bad side effects from it but just that plain out does not help him. He was diagnosed with ADHD and he aalso has trouble at school wiht staying on task, finishing his work, test anxiety. I just havent seen no change in him yet. Now my concern is that his doctor wants to change out and put him on Effexor...I just wanted to find out anyone who is taking this or has a friend or child tha tis on this medication if they could give me some advice on this medication. I am not one of a mother just to change and shove a kid on anything ya know. Please help me out and let me know.

I just got diagnosed with ADHD last week. I am 24 and my doctor put me on Strattera. So far, all it does is make me want to sleep, give me dry mouth, and a stomach ache. I can sit still but I still can't concentrate on anything. So far, it's not helping at all.

When I first started taking strattera I was very nauseous, lethargic, not much of an appetite (it was like I had no taste buds at times), and I was constipated.
All of these side effects have gone away, except I do get nauseous when I take my pill on an empty stomach.

I dont know too much about adderall.

Strattera should be taken on full stomach only. No nausea then. KJVB38420.3246875

I had dry mouth where I could not swallow my food unless I had water with me.  I had a weird fuzziness in my head when I did not get enough sleep.  I also had the worlds worst hangovers (even from a small amount of alcohol) I felt like if I moved, I would get sick.  Despite this, I am still on it.  I get dizzy feeling when I forget to take it, but I did see a difference while on it.  I was finally able to do math!!!  I also did not get annoyed when people interupted my hyperfocus.  I was even able to pick up where I left off.

I don't really know the side effects of adderall, except for the no sleep and no hunger thing.  The problem was, I would take my friends meds before I was even diagnosed.

Does anyone know what side effects are common with strattera that are not present with adderall? I just started taking Strattera and would like to evaluate the difference.

Also do they prescribe Desoxyn on a regualar basis for ADHD?

Thanks,
TarynMy 14 year old son was dignosed with ADHD at the age of 7. We have tried almost everything. I like the way Ritalin LA30 works for him, but he also suffers from the tick disorders. The Ritalin causes very bad side effects. However, he is now on Risperdal for his ticks and he was just given Stratera. I've read on the message boards that it does wonders with moods......something he has really BADD. My question is, what about school, does it help the functioning or do you find it helps moods only. Please help if you have more input dealing with the Stratera at an adolescent school age. Thanks EMOM
