Ritalin and dizziness | ADHD Information

For me, the Ritalin DOES make me dizzy. However, it was only after 2-3 months after taking it that it kicked in. My doctor is away on vacay,so I have waited to make changes, but the dizziness i feel is a lightheaded -ground kinda feels like jello feeling. I also feel sometimes like someone is pressing down on my head.... I would like to try another medication.... has anyone gotten the benefits of Ritalin from another med without the side effects? I think I may be having a rotalin side effect. the rug has  workedGREAT for me for 3 mo.  I got the flu  2.5 weeks  ago  and it was a bit deceptive  I think in part because of the ritalin. I don't think I  realized how sick i was till  I took my temp 102f.  The fever was fone within about a week  althoiugh I did  keep spiking   for a week  when I didnt take  motrin. I saw the Dr, got anti biotics  jik( I  get strep when you say the word). Anyway,  I felt lightheaded a bit and weak last week  which is  par for the flu  at 2 weeks.  I tried to take it easy  becasue when i didnt  I was exhausted. Well now I am past the 2 week mark and still getting  lighheaded  feeling  that reminds me of   brain  zaps I got when i stopped  taking celexa a few yrs ago.  I am worried  maybe I am getting a dizziness  side effect from ritalin.  I was just wondering if  anyone  had gotten that side effect  and if so did  it pass  or did they have to discontinue the medication.   I decided since there  is no "withdrawl"  other than a return to ADHD  I'd skip it  for a couple days  and  see if it stopped. I see my DR. Mon and will talk to him. I was just curious if anyone had experienced anything like that.  My BP and heart rate are great its  not  a room spinning dizzy jsut a woozy feeling  that hits for a bit then passes...I really hope it isnt the medicine it has  really helped me change so many things but, if it is it is..and it will be time for another soloution.

I haven't taken any ritalin in a day.  I still have the lghtheadedness.  A friend of mine at work  says  his whole family had the flu  and everyone felt  like that for 3 weeks...it comes and it goes.  It won't kill me to not take the ritalin till I see the DR.  Mon...I will be working 1/2 a day  today.... That way when I talk to him It will either be gone or  unconnected. I would rather be safe than sorry and  you know I really dont feel that hot still.  If it wasnt the medicine the next time I am sick  I am knocking the ritalin right off. It really did  mask   some of the symptoms a bit because it is a stimulant. I need to stop when I am sick not push.  I was pushing going to work and school the first week I was sick   when I should of probably been home in bed with the fever I was spiking

Work to say the least  is sucking. I am trying to not   make   messes e verywhere  and trying to just do my job. I am doing eh, so so but  still   better than I expected...... of course I have found two cups of water I got and  put down and forgot  and my leg is  shaking but still.... I am working and my area, and am  doing the crap work associatted with my job I always used to put off so far today

I have had the flu for 1 week now, and started taking ritalin 2 weeks ago.  I'd like to think that the ritalin has nothing to do with it, because it has helped me, but I would think that if it was just the normal flu, it would be gone by now.  Mine is more of a stomach flu, can't eat much, but I also am dizzy and lightheaded.  While I don't have an answer for you, I hope someone else does, as I would love to continue taking ritalin but not feel like crap!It was  the FLu the next time I get sick i am just not taking any medicine. Glad to hear it was the Flu!  I decided to keep taking ritalin and drop my prozac dosage to 20mg, from 40mg, and within a couple of days I felt better.  I guess I could have had the flu, but I think for me it was probably too high a dosage of prozac.  I feel much better now, and am pretty confident that ritalin was not the cause of my symptoms.

Hmmm. I was sick a week ago with a strep throat. Today, I upped my Ritalin dose from 10 to 15mg (as I just started and am trying to figure out the correct dosage). I just logged into the board to see if there was anyone else feeling dizzy.

*Maybe* the dizziness is a combination of the illness and ritalin, or the antibiotics and ritalin. However, keep in mind that as a stimulant Ritalin increases your blood pressure (someone please correct me if this is wrong). High blood pressure can lead to dizziness. Personally, I think it is the Ritalin (at least in my case) and I think I am going to drop back down to 10mg.
