Please help me!!! | ADHD Information

I want to say I have read some really interesting messages up here. My main concern is I have a 11 year old boy. He was diagnosed with ADHD 3 months ago. The doc has him on strattera. I have yet to seen any changes in him. His problems are short temper, he doesnt like to be closed in a bunch of people,very fidgity, has trouble staying on task, not completing work chores and homework, forgets very easy ( basically have to repeat yaself over a couple of times). At school they have put him as learning disabled, He has hard time reading and writing. HIs father was bi- polar and adhd when he was young and still is but doesnt take meds. of course we arent together and havent been for 5 years. So the doc called today and said to try to think of putting him on EFFEXOR and stopping strattera. I was just wondering if any mothers fathers aunt and whoever has a child or anyone that is taking effexor and how does it affect them. side effects. I am just so scared to just put him on something. I think that the doctor just scared me by saying he would have to be monitored. Please give me some advice.
