Kids resistance to ADD medication | ADHD Information

I'm not on meds and don't know much about them yet, but aren't the slow release supposed to work all day? Concerta and Ritalin I think sounds a little excessive.

I thiink if the Concerta doesn't last, and the Ritalin in the afternoon helps, I think it would make sense that 3 does of Ritalin throughout the day, and no Concerta would be better than taking both. Just my 2 cents.

I need some help. My 11 neice has ADD. Here is my concern, she has been on meds for 2 years now and they have increased her dosage quite a bit, she weighs 108lb and is now up to taking 72mg of Concerta slow release, and Ritallin in the after noon. My sister says ahe needs the afternoon Ritallin because  the Concerta has worn off by then and my neice becomes hyper and disorganized.  Is it normal for a kid to be so medicated without something else being wrong with them, or is normal because kids have more energy than adults?I have ADD and take Concerta also and find that 54mg is just enough for me, I'm 28 yo female, a little heavy after my baby and the Concerta works all day for me. If you have any information or expirience with this please let me know.
