What to do?I have a little girl whom is 7 years old and in the 2nd grade. She was diagnosed with ADHD combined type 2 years ago.she is very gifted and VERY smart, she is at the 6th grade reading level, and spelling nothing less then a 100% on test, but she is struggling BAd in math.I went to the school today and her teacher said she is very concerned about her with math that she is really struggling.any suggestions on ways to make it funner/easier to  work with her more?,she cries the whole time we are doing ANY math homework.

Hope to hear from you all as you are all soooooooooooo much support and i so much appreciate it.

Try giving her one problem at a time on a single piece of paper.  Often ADHD kids are overwhelmed with "all of these problems I have to do".  But when you break it up in small definable pieces, they tend to do better.  In other words little successes add to a big win.

I have a 7 year old that is great at math...but is struggling with reading...I think it is just a matter of their individual development...My daughter can memorize like crazy.....she does really well in spelling too..but reading is just painful for her....I think they are puched pretty hard at school..and in this age...there is such a huge variance....we have stopped working at it so hard. We have been playing more games and reading things like the funny pages to keep her interested and not frustrated....there are alot of great math games available....you could try bribery, get a roll of dimes and some flash cards, for every card she gets right she gets a dime, dont forget to tell her there is in every roll of dimes, maybe that would spark her interest
